'Always felt like an outsider': Tom Cruise has had enough of Hollywood's 'attention-seeking celebrities'
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Hollywood’s Action hero Tom Cruise is allegedly “sick” of Tinseltown and wants to steer clear of the phony “attention-seeking celebrities.” Only a few weeks ago in December, the adrenaline junkie was seen hanging outside a helicopter as he thanked his fans for the success of 2022’s biggest hit ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. However, it appears that the star is not a fan of the film industry, after all.
"Tom's always felt like an outsider in Hollywood," a source told RadarOnline. "He's extremely dedicated to his craft and has an old-fashioned work ethic and doesn't have time for the rest of the B.S." It appears that the superficiality of the business bothers the ‘Mission: Impossible’ alum. His frequent place to visit for business, Los Angeles, also stays as a painful reminder of his failed marriages to Mimi Rogers (1987-1990), Nicole Kidman (1990-2001), and Katie Holmes (2006-2012). "L.A. was Tom's home base during those marriages and that's where those marriages ended in divorce," the insider went on. "So the city conjures up memories he'd rather not dwell on."

"As soon as it's finished, he's out of there," the insider said, referring to his work in LA. "He's not trying to avoid anyone per se, he just doesn't have time for much socializing."

In recent years, Cruise reportedly sold his LA mansion and left his estate in Telluride, Colorado, since then he has been spending most of his time across the Atlantic settled in a luxury pad in London. The source said that the New York native gets more privacy on foreign grounds while adding, "he appreciates London's history and theater and architecture, and it's not a one-industry town like Hollywood."
Cruise’s most recent project, the eighth installment in the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise lead him to Hoedspruit, a small town in South Africa, where he greeted locals by chatting and posing for selfies before piloting his own helicopter. "The people of Hoedspruit gather in anticipation," Mel Owtram, the owner of Antares Bush Camp and Safaris, told a local newspaper, as per the outlet. "Tom's grown to love the country. He loves the landscape, the culture, the people who have been so welcoming to him." There might be a possibility that the megastar considers dwelling here. "It's beautiful here," the actor said to his fans. "It would be nice to live here permanently."
The source further said, "He doesn't like the Hollywood politics and the attention-seeking celebrities. He's separated himself from the phonies and hangers-on and simply doesn't have time for people who use each other."
