Allison Mack of NXIVM sex cult files for divorce from wife Nicki Clyne as she awaits sentencing for racketeering
Erstwhile actress Allison Mack who rose to fame with her role in the American superhero TV series 'Smallville' has filed for divorce. Starring as Chloe Sullivan on the series, Mack filed documents in Orange County, California, on Friday to divorce her Canadian wife Nicki Clyne, also an actress who appeared in 'Battlestar Galactica' as Cally Tyrol. The now-separated couple got married in 2017 but don't have any children together.
Mack who filed for divorce currently is in some form of house arrest for charges against her for being an integral part of the NXIVM sex cult led by convicted felon Keith Raniere. She pled guilty to two counts of racketeering conspiracy and racketeering in a high-profile court case last year. It saw prosecutors charge her with recruiting sex "slaves" to engage in sexual intercourse with Raniere as part of a secretive and violent group within NXIVM called DOS. Clyne was also a former member of the cult. However, she's managed to avoid any direct charges in connection with her involvement with the group. Though, there's no doubt about her being a fundamental part of the abominable group that was posing as an institution that preached self-empowerment.
NXIVM preyed upon many women including actresses, including 'Dynasty' actress Catherine Oxenberg's daughter India who joined the group in 2011 at the age of 20. India's statement in Raniere's trial was instrumental in bringing him to justice. Apart from naming Raniere, India also alleged that Mack was her "master" in the cult. She said Mack "targeted" her and also controlled when she could eat, restricting her to a diet designed to provide her with just 500 calories a day.
60-year-old Raniere was convicted in June 2019 on seven counts including racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy, forced labor conspiracy, sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and attempted sex trafficking. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison in October while Mack still awaits her sentencing. It's said that she could face up to a minimum of 40 years in prison, according to a Daily Mail report.
Mack's estranged wife Clyne also claimed that she was in a relationship with Raniere for over a decade. In a letter to a federal judge ahead of the 60-year-old's sentencing in October for running a master-slave group within the New York organization, the 37-year-old actress referred to him as her "partner" and claimed it was “absurd” to say it “was created for Keith to have partners.” The document was obtained by Fox News and it stated that Clyne wanted to set the record straight after being "harassed by the media and the public-at-large" due to "false allegations against me."
Clyne, a hardcore Raniere supporter, stated that NXIVM simply put was “a group of women who sought guidance from a trusted and intelligent man and created a secret sorority for women that implemented some somewhat unconventional practices in the pursuit of growth and personal freedom," according to New York Post.
