Actor Alec Baldwin, a staunch critic of President Donald Trump, on Friday, April 10, addressed a tweet to the Republican leader's supporters, asking them to "just stay home" on Election Day. Baldwin, in his message on the popular micro-blogging site, also called Trump an "incompetent idiot" and "self-seeking punk."

"I’ve got some voting advice for many of you struggling Trump voters. I picked it up from Trump himself," Baldwin wrote. "Just stay home. You know, in your heart, that he is an incompetent idiot and self-seeking punk. Say you were sick. Say you were scared. Don’t bother voting. Stay home."

The actor, earlier this week, had also slammed Trump supporters, calling them "mentally ill." The 'Saturday Night Live' star had said that only "mentally ill" people will choose to reelect Trump for his second term. Baldwin had said that the Republican had gained unprecedented control over federal institutions, and had fired many of the government workers.

“Trump has reached for, and nearly gained, a control of the federal [government] unrivaled by other Presidents,” Baldwin said. “He fired huge numbers of [government] professionals. He steamrolled the Congress, whenever possible. And now this. If you vote for Trump again, you are mentally ill.” He also accused Trump supporters of “desecrating” American democracy, and causing the “near moral collapse of this country."

The 'Saturday Night Live' star, who launches consistent attacks against the current president on Twitter, earlier this year, in January, had again taken to the popular micro-blogging site to slam Trump supporters, blaming them for ruining America by electing the Republican.

“American democracy has always been a struggle between the misaligned protections of specific freedoms and a raging, at times intoxicating, 12 cylinder economy. It demanded vigilant/consistent regulation, compassion for the disenfranchised and the periodic display of a necessary sacrifice that allowed for the long term health of our society at the expense of short term whims,” Baldwin had tweeted.

"The desecration of those ideals and the near moral collapse of this country falls squarely in the lap of Trump’s supporters, as opposed to Trump himself, who is merely what psychology labels the ‘objective negative function'," he added at the time. "Like fire, floods and earthquakes, it destroys, and only destroys, by its very nature. Without prejudice. It is Trump voters, particularly those who would re-elect him who bears the blame. For the undeniable and colossal destruction of everything that matters to us as Americans that cannot be merely monetized," he added.

Other celebrities, including 'Star Wars' actor Mark Hamill, recently slammed Trump for his response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic by pointing out the Republican's incessant need to paise himself in the crisis. The legendary actor criticized the president for not offering his sympathies to the ones suffering or dead because of the deadly virus, suggesting that Trump was a monster straight out of a horror movie.

"Perpetually obsessed with ratings & praise for himself, but still not a word of sympathy for the suffering or those who died," Hamill wrote on Twitter. "The lack of empathy is remarkable." Hamill also posted a poster of the 1982 John Carpenter horror classic 'The Thing,' comparing Trump to the monster in the movie, which can shift form and mimic humans. However, for Hamill, the monster in the film imitated human behavior better than the president.
