John Cusack wants Trump to be impeached again, says his removal will save lives during coronavirus crisis
Actor John Cusack has called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump amid the coronavirus outbreak as he believes it will “save lives”. The 53-year-old ‘Utopia’ star tweeted on Tuesday, March 31, that he wants to see labor strikes as well as the impeachment of Trump.
Cusack tweet read: “We need strikes/ and we need to remove Trump from power to save lives. Impeach him again/Pressure for 25th.”
Trump was impeached on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress by the House but was acquitted by the Senate. The 25th Amendment to the Constitution dictates the vice president assumes the presidency if the president dies, resigns, or is removed from office.
However, this was not the first time ‘The Raven: Extras’ actor has called for Trump's impeachment. In May 2019 also, he demanded Trump’s ouster in a series of tweets. He tweeted then: “Disagree -historical record -trump needs to be removed from office - RT @laurmaniisfree: please…. why are they wasting this much fuckin time? there are so many better tasks they could focus on.”
Cusack, who endorsed Bernie Sanders as the Democratic presidential nominee, has also recently said that Trump should “rot in hell”. He slammed the president after the Republican rebuked an NBC News reporter during a recent White House press conference on the coronavirus pandemic.
According to reports, when NBC News reporter Peter Alexander asked the president about what his message would be to Americans who are frightened by the coronavirus pandemic, the president blasted the reporter in response, saying: "You are a terrible reporter."
Disapproving Trump’s reaction during the press conference, the 'Serendipity' actor took to Twitter and said: “Rot in hell - Mr. President.” He also suggested that the 73-year-old’s response was "unreal."
However, Cusack is not the only one who has slammed the POTUS for his response to the pandemic as Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner tweeted on March 31: “Donald Trump’s mental illness is killing people.”
He had earlier shared, “I’m not a lawyer, but it seems to me if you’re the most influential person in America and you tell the public that a deadly viral pandemic is a hoax & countless citizens accept that as reality, do nothing to protect themselves then end up dead, you might be an accessory."
He also shared last week that Trump was "causing people in NY to die". He had also said: “It’s not possible to have a worse human being handling this crisis."
Many online users agreed with him as one said: “The fact that he knew about this in early January and the next two months he played golf nine times and didn’t confront this should be alarming to everybody," while another user added, "Let’s all get real: Trump is a symptom of the Republican Party. The Republican Party has always been the party of disease, chaos and death. Since forever. With authority comes full accountability."
A third wrote, "He is killing people intentionally, he knows what he is doing." "Better to end the stigma of mental health. The illness that kills is 'ignorance, incompetence & ego,'" added another user.
