Brendan Fraser gets emotional after learning his fans are still ‘rooting’ for him
Actor Brendan Fraser got emotional after learning his fans were still ‘rooting’ for him. A video of the star of 'The Mummy' in a virtual meet and greet was posted to TikTok, where he met with Lindley Key, a cosplayer, who assured him that his supporters were still behind him. Key said Fraser, "there are so many people out there who love you. And we're rooting for you, and we can't wait to see what you do next." Fraser replied, tipping his cowboy hat and taking a sip of water, "shucks, ma'am." On TikTok, the video has received over two million views and 400k likes.
Fraser, who was once a popular movie star, hasn't been in many recent blockbusters. In a 2018 interview with GQ magazine, he discussed the derailment of his career, mentioning a 15-year-old assault as a contributing factor. In 2003, the actor told the magazine that he was groped by Philip Berk, the former head of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. He claimed the event occurred in public at an HFPA summer luncheon. Berk leaned out to shake the actor's hand, but instead grabbed his butt in a crowded area, according to Fraser. Fraser explained, “his left-hand reaches around, grabs my ass cheek, and one of his fingers touches me in the taint. And he starts moving it around.”

The HFPA investigated the claims made by Fraser, but Berk remained a member of the group until he was fired after sending an email labeling Black Lives Matter a 'racist hate movement.' Fraser told CQ at the time that the event left him depressed and reclusive, and that he was rarely asked back to the Globes after 2003. Key told the Insider, "Fraser was such a huge part of our childhoods. His movies were and still are, loved by so many out there. And after all, he has been through these past years, his fans are thrilled to see him happy and back to work."

Fraser also discussed some of his next projects in the popular TikTok interview, including a Martin Scorsese picture starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro called 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' Fraser added after Key commended him on his performance, "I think I might be sick. I'm a little anxious."
