ABC’s ‘The Conners’: Roseanne Barr missing from premiere amid rumors of return, fans refuse to watch

'The Conners' is another fine example of reinventing a previous show and the viewers of the show were ecstatic to see the 1988 show 'Roseanne' hit the mainstream media in a new tone. However, the show's star, Roseanne Barr, was fired merely two months from the new show and the viewers were flabbergasted. Post the firing, the show was renamed to 'The Conners' and has now entered its fifth season. However, fans are disappointed that Barr is not returning. 

ABC originally canceled 'Roseanne' after the 70-year-old actress shared a racist tweet where she referred to Valerie Jarrett, the aide to former President Barack Obama as the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes." The consulting producer Wanda Sykes explained that Barr would not be returning to the show and the claims were backed by ABC president Channing Dungey who said that Barr's remarks could not be ignored. However, as recently as 2022 there were rumors that a character from the original show would be returning and the fans went off the handle contemplating Barr's return, considering she is the backbone of both shows. But the fire was put to rest when the fifth season aired and Barr was nowhere to be seen. This has led to a massive backlash with viewers denying to watch the show.

Fans left disappointed after Roseanne Barr is missing from 'The Conners S5'

One disappointed user wrote, "Roseanne would straighten these woke bitches out #TheConners". Another user wrote, "Talk about beating a dead horse. #TheConners is like living off of your dead mothers name but Rosanne isn't even dead yet. @TheConnersABC picking her bones before she's even gone." Another user said, "I never watched it! they are noting without Rosanne!! #TheConners"

One user tweeted, "Not gonna watch whatever #TheConners has turned into, especially without Roseanne. That creepy crocheted mask promo picture is hilariously out of place and tone deaf in 2022." Another user said, "#TheConners watching this show without Roseanne is just as pointless as those stupid 'masks' they are wearing". One more user said, "#TheConners isn’t even worth watching without Rosanne! I’ll pass"
