5 popular Twitch and YouTube streamers react as Twitter removes verified blue tick

The blue tick, previously used to verify an account's legitimacy, is now being awarded to those who are prepared to pay Twitter $8 a month

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Twitter has now got rid of the Blue Tick on verified accounts. Now, only Twitter Blue subscribers are permitted to maintain a Blue Tick. Many users on the platform have expressed their dissatisfaction by stating that they will not pay Twitter money to reclaim the blue verification badge. But some poor users who have paid the micro-blogging service have also not received it.

In other words, the business has determined that the Blue Tick is no longer a mark to signify an account's legitimacy — what it stood for all these years. Instead, it is a badge that is awarded to those who are prepared to pay Twitter a monthly charge. Few people are now making payments. Even when a user pays the company a $8 cost, it appears that the platform waits some time before providing a blue verification symbol to any account.
