We take a look at some of the much-awaited releases that fans can catch this weekend across different streaming platforms.
Thrash - Netflix
Shark films have never gone out of rage, and for good reason. The thrill and imminent danger, coupled with a crisp storyline, always make for a popcorn watch. The recent one joining the shark attack survival flicks is 'Thrash'. Starring Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou, the film sees a coastal town ravaged a Category 5 hurricane whose flooding bring with them ravenous sharks. Tommy Wirkola directs the film and also serves as one of the producers alongside Adam McKay and Kevin Messick.
'Balls Up' - Prime Video
Comedy aficionados will have fun with this one. 'Balls Up' starring Mark Wahlberg was one of the marquee releases coming from Peter Farrelly. The Prime Video film follows marketing executives Brad (Wahlberg) and Elijah (Paul Walter Hauser), whose audacious attempt to pitch a bold World Cup sponsorship for a rather unconventional condom brand goes hilariously south after a drunken celebration in Brazil leads to a major international incident. As the ramifications follow, the duo find themselves blamed for disrupting an official match and quickly become targets of angry fans, criminals, and authorities.
‘Roommates’ - Netflix
Another comedy, 'Roommates,' has been making headlines. The college-set Netflix dramedy stars Adam Sandler's eldest daughter, Sadie, in the lead. It follows Devon (Sandler), a shy college freshman starting her first year away, and has an exact opposite personality from her roommate, Celeste (Chloe East). The pair navigate life with parties, life in a dorm, and new bonds, but tensions overtime leads to thin cracks in their dynamic.
'Dust Bunny' - HBO Max
Bryan Fuller's directorial debut is a fantasy-action film starring Mads Mikkelsen, Sophie Sloan, Sheila Atim, David Dastmalchian, and Sigourney Weaver. 'Dust Bunny' follows a notorious hit man approached by an eight-year-old girl to kill the "monster" under her bed. The girl claims "ate" her family, suspecting they were in fact killed by assassins who are after him.
'Godzilla Minus One' - Netflix
Another survival thriller, but this one is a kaiju threat. Starring Ryûnosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Munetaka Aoki, and Hidetaka Yoshioka, the official synopsis reads, "Japan is already devastated by the war when a new crisis emerges in the form of a giant monster
