Is ‘Love, Again’ based on a true story? Valerie Bertinelli returns to acting in emotional new movie
The latest trailer of 'Love, Again' sees Valerie Bertinelli experience gut-wrenching heartbreak, quiet healing, and the optimism of finding love in the trailer of the upcoming Lifetime movie. 'Love, Again' sees Bertinelli play Caroline, a woman dealing with the devastating effects of her husband Henry's (Henry Czerny) early-onset Alzheimer’s. Ahead of the film's release, the buzz was whether the film was based on a true story. While the film shares the same title as a 2023 film, 'Love, Again' is not based on original events. The film is set to premiere Saturday, May 9, at 8 p.m. ET.
The grimness is seen in the trailer, exclusively sent to People, when she admits Henry's condition. "Henry is getting so much worse. Nurses won’t come anymore. He gets so angry," she says. The scene then moves to a disoriented Henry in the hospital, asking, "Am I supposed to be here?" Per the outlet, "Love, Again follows Caroline and Henry, who have shared a nearly perfect life for almost 30 years before his diagnosis changes everything. As Henry’s memory fades, Caroline must navigate the unimaginable — losing her soulmate while finding strength and unexpected connection in a new connection." Jack Grossbart and Linda Kent serve as executive producers alongside Bertinelli, Marc Schwartz, Robert Murdoch, Nic Altobelli, Allen Lewis, and Marnie Young. David Strasser directs based on Nancey Silvers' script.
In related news, Bertinelli had an emotional take on the upcoming slice-of-life drama: "This movie is so moving and full of heart." This was seconded by her co-star Eric McCormack. "People will relate to the characters as real." Also adding was Czerny, "I feel we’ll help a lot of people who are going through this, feel they are not alone. Bertinelli added that the film was about how life offers second chances in the most unexpected of ways. The film marks her acting debut after a lengthy hiatus. Safe to say, the much-awaited drama comes with plenty of promise and hope.
