NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA: The three spear fishermen were seen being stalked by a shark in a terrifying drone footage. The video shows a gray nurse shark just below the fishermen and swimming directly at them who were wearing black wetsuits in Forster, New South Wales' mid-north coast on Sunday, March 12.

After learning about the terrifying ordeal the lifeguards alerted all the swimmers to rush back to the shore, said reports. The visibly terrified swimmers hastily exited the sea, however, the fishermen were stuck on rocks since they had no apparent escape route and were obviously panicking as they frantically splashed around in the water. Emily Howman, the drone pilot who was following the shark's movements with a drone had a sense of helplessness as she came across the tragedy. Emily subsequently shared the video on her YouTube channel.

'It was abject fear'

"I can't do anything from up with my drone. I couldn't even warn them," she explained to 9News. "There's no audio, so it was abject fear that something bad would happen and all I would be able to do was watch," she said, as per Daily Mail. The fishermen appeared to be oblivious to the predator as it swam just beneath them. They finally notice the shark as it eventually passes by, and one of the guys can be seen splashing as he flees the scene.

The men swim back to shore in a panic. During the commotion, one of the fishermen loses a flipper. When the shark rounds the rocks, he bravely dives back into the water to get it. Fortunately, no one appears to have been injured, and the nurse shark showed no sign of moving but swam away appearing uninterested in them.

Nurse sharks

According to National Geographic, this type of shark enjoys spending time in warm, shallow waters close to the ocean floor and is frequently observed using its pectoral fins to traverse the sand. They are normally slow-moving and docile but have a maximum length of three meters. If disturbed, they may be dangerous.

Last year, a nurse shark attacked a 13-year-old boy named Fisher Hicko when he was picking lobsters while on vacation with his family in the Florida Keys. The bite caused Fisher to have 10 sutures on his upper lip. Talking to  Fox 35, he detailed the horrific incident in detail as he spoke, “I felt a little tap on the back of my leg, and I looked behind me and the shark was in my face.” He further on explained,   "I saw a big one [lobster], and I got it in my hand. On the way up, when I had the lobster in my hand, I felt a little tap on the back of my leg, and I looked behind me and the shark was in my face. It was scary, like, I tried getting away, but it was so fast."
