Texas woman, 23, torches ex-BF's home after another woman answers his phone, man sets up fundraiser
ATASCOSA, TEXAS: A Texas woman was arrested recently for setting ex-boyfriend's home on fire in a fit of jealousy after another woman answered her call when she face timed him. Senaida Marie Soto, 23, reportedly broke into Tommy Garay’s home on Sunday, November 20, and set his house on fire after she had stolen several items from the home.
Soto was arrested on Monday, November 21, on charges of burglary of a habitation and arson, the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. As per the release, the Lytle Fire Department authorities and the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to an arson call at a home in San Antonio around 1.45 pm on Sunday, as per Insider.

“Soto became upset that another woman answered her boyfriend’s phone, went to the boyfriend’s house, and that is when she lit the couch in the living room on fire,” the news release stated. The sheriff’s office revealed they have obtained a video in which Soto was captured setting the couch ablaze before the fire spread through the house. The fire has caused more than $50,000 worth of damage.
She also sent a text to the boyfriend, reading, “I hope your house is okay,” while it was burning, authorities reportedly said. The woman who answered the call, however, turned out to be Garay's relative.
Gratefully, Garay and his two-year-old daughter were not at home when Soto went on the warpath. Garay revealed he only dated Soto for a month. Now, he has set up a fundraising page to get back on his feet. "I called the fire department but unfortunately by the time they arrived everything I owned including my daughter's toys, clothes, shoes, etc was damaged/lost in the fire, this is such a devastating time for us, as this home, was the home my dad and I grew up in, this home has been part of my family for generations," Garay said on GoFundMe.
"I never would have imagined me being a victim of such crimes, as we had only been in a relationship for a month, this is very traumatizing, especially for my daughter, asking why we can't we go home," the page continued.
