Why did Zoe Kravitz and Karl Glusman split? A look at their relationship timeline as duo's Instagram posts vanish
Zoe Kravitz and husband Karl Glusman have called it quits in less than two years of marriage
The 32-year-old 'High Fidelity' star officially filed for divorce on December 23, with her rep confirming the split to People. Zoe and Karl (32) began dating in 2016 and tied the knot at her father Lenny Kravitz's home in Paris, France on June 29 in 2019. Although their divorce has been confirmed, the reason for the couple's split is unknown. Just a year ago the couple celebrated their first anniversary and Zoe uploaded a black-and-white photo of herself and her now estranged husband from the ceremony to Instagram captioning it, “one year.”
Glusman also paid homage to the pair's 'one year' by penning a heartfelt caption and sharing two intimate snapshots with his Instagram following that he has deleted post break-up.
"Not the year we expected... but I feel like if we can make it through this, we can take on anything,' began the 'Neon Demon' star, adding 'I love you. More than anything." He went on to call Zoe his 'best friend' and admitted that she often "cracks [him] up' and 'melts [his] heart."
"You call me out on my bullsh** and you challenge me to grow... I love you for that. And I'll do anything and everything for you until the day I die. "Now let's go save the world @zoeisabellakravitz," concluded Karl, who has since removed all photos of Zoe from his Instagram.
Despite their sudden split, Zoe and Karl are still following one another on the social media platform. The pair's lavish Parisian wedding was held inside Lenny's three-story townhouse with Zoe's mother Lisa Bonet, her husband Jason Momoa and their two children, son Nakoa-Wolf and daughter Lola, in attendance.
Lenny and Lisa, who were married from 1987 until their divorce in 1993, welcomed Zoe on December 1, 1988. Aside from her "one year" anniversary post, Zoe also gave her fans a peek at the picturesque wedding in a series of never-before-seen snapshots posted on December 31 of 2019. Following their June 2019 wedding, Kravitz revealed to British Vogue that when she met Karl in 2016 she was not actively looking for a "serious" relationship.
"I love that it wasn't on an app and that it wasn't on a movie set. My friend knew that I wanted to meet someone – not even to get serious, I think just to get laid, to be completely honest with you – and he brought Karl. I instantly felt something – then he turned around and started talking to the blonde girl next to him and I was like, "Wait, what?" But he later told me that he was just nervous," recalled Zoe to the outlet at the time. “I can be my weirdest self around him,” Zoe had said. “It’s so relaxing to be around someone where you can be a hundred percent how you feel.”
Zoe and Glusman were dating for about a year and a half when, when the actor proposed marriage in February 2018. Zoe revealed that Karl intended to propose to her in Paris but work schedules got in the way of his plans. “I was in sweatpants,” Zoe said. “I think I was a little drunk. I could feel his heart beating so fast — I was like, ‘Baby, are you OK?’ I was actually worried about him! I love that it wasn’t this elaborate plan in Paris. It was at home, in sweatpants.”
Days before the news of her separation from Karl went public, Zoe used Instagram to excitedly bid farewell to 2020, writing: "bye 2020. you f**kin weirdo."
She included a self-portrait that showed her leaning over the back of her sofa with part of her face out of frame. After the clock struck midnight, the 'Big Little Lies' actress loaded several seemingly unrelated shots to her page, including a stoic selfie.
'New year. little things,' captioned Zoe, who appeared especially ready for 2021 to take over.
