Singer Zayn Malik's younger sister Safaa married her boyfriend Martin on Monday, just three days after she turned 17, according to reports. Safaa, who is a sixth form student, celebrated her birthday on Friday and then had a traditional Islamic wedding ceremony two days later in her hometown of Bradford.

The news was confirmed by the One Direction star's mother Trisha Malik, who uploaded the pictures of her daughter's wedding ceremony on Instagram, with a caption reading: "My baby girls big day." Zayn, however, did not appear to attend his sister's wedding as he was nowhere to be seen in the pictures.

Trisha's Instagram showed multiple pictures of the newlyweds cutting the cake as different family members posed with the new bride. Other people who attended the wedding included Zayn's sisters Doniya and Waliyha, both 28, and their father Yaser Malik.

The pictures also included a close up of the couple's hands, where Safaa flashed a diamond ring on her henna-painted hand.

Zayn's sister wedding comes months after the former One Direction star had lashed out at someone in a series of cryptic tweets as he told someone to "Go f**k yourselves."

Zayn, in April, had left his fans confused after he posted harsh tweets, saying: "How about you all go f**k yourselves with your irrelevant bulls**t. This ain’t a place for feelings. And you aren’t the person you said you were."

Many of his fans were left wondering if the singer had fallen out with his former bandmates, while several others thought he was teasing the lyrics of his new song.

The 26-year-old star, previously, had apologized for being a "sh** person" weeks after his One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson claimed their friendship ended following his mum's death.

Zayn, in a tweet which has now been deleted, wrote: "I'd like [to] apologise for basically being a s**t person." Although he did not mention whom his apology was directed towards, it came shortly after Tomlinson claimed that things soured when Zayn promised to support him at his first 'X Factor' performance following mum Johannah Deakin's death in 2016.Tomlinson said that while all his bandmates turned up, Zayn was a no-show.
