LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Zac Efron has recently re-followed his ex-girlfriend and 'High School Musical' co-star Vanessa Hudgens on Instagram 13 years after their split. It is unclear if the former couple is in contact after Efron made the subtle attempt to grab Hudgens' attention on social media. However, the move has sent eagle-eyed fans into a meltdown with many wondering if it is "platonic" as the 34-year-old actress is now engaged. 

Efron and Hudgens shot to fame in their respective roles as Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez in the 'High School Musical' film trilogy between 2006 and 2008. The former lovebirds took their romance off-screen as they began dating from 2005 to 2010 after meeting on the sets of the Disney film series, as per Seventeen. However, the pair left their fans heartbroken after going separate ways in 2010 with details of their split mostly unknown. In 2011, Hudgens hinted that distance was a major reason for the breakup. “Long-distance relationships are hard no matter what,” she told 'Shape' at the time, reported People. “When you don’t have face-to-face time, it’s just different. Having an iPhone helped, but it wasn’t the same.”
