MANTECA, CALIFORNIA: In a horrific incident, rapper Young Slo-Be, 29, was shot dead on Friday morning, August 5. The California native, who got viral for his single, ‘I Love You’, was shot dead in Manteca along the 100 block of Trevino Avenue. According to CBS, Manteca police responded to a shooting incident and the officers later found out a male victim suffered fatal injuries. No arrests have been made in the case, so far.

Speaking of rappers getting shot and killed, artist VNZA was murdered in Missouri back in June 2021. Brooklyn rapper Supa Gates too faced a similar fate after he was shot multiple times at St John’s Place near Troy Avenue in Crown Heights in April 2021. Chicago rapper KTS Dre too made the headlines after he was shot 64 times on his head and other parts of his body in July 2021. Bay Area rapper Mike Darole was another hip-hop artist who was fatally shot during an attempted robbery in May 2021.

Who was Young Slo-Be?

Young Slo-Be’s real name is Disean Jaquae Victor, who grew up in Stockton, California. He shot to fame in 2018 with the song ‘Smurkish Wayz’ on SoundCloud and YouTube. His recently released single called ‘I Love You’ became a sensation on TikTok with the song also crossing over a million views on YouTube. He was also known for his tracks like ‘NGH’, ‘Unforgivable’, ‘The Association’, and others.
 
On Instagram, the late hip-hop artist relished his 100K followers but kept his family life very personal. In an interview with Passion of the Weiss, the rapper spoke about what got him into the rap industry. “That’s who got me into rapping - my pops and my uncle” adding, “I’d go out there and visit them and everyone’s looking up to him, singing his songs and all types of s**t. I’d want that.”



 

Speaking of his death, the gloomy news was confirmed by the independent label Thizzler on the Roof. In a tribute post on Twitter and Instagram, they wrote, “Rest In Peace Young Slo-Be. We’re devastated to announce that rising star @youngslobe2100 was shot & killed this morning. It was an honor to work with Slo-Be the last couple of years and we’re heartbroken to say goodbye. Our hearts are heavy, and our condolences go out to his family & loved ones.⁠”  



 



 

‘RIP Young Slobe these streets don’t love you'

Social media users flocked to Twitter to pay their last tributes to the rising hip-hop star. “Damn bunch of hating a** m*fo’s in the comments who clueless about music clearly. RIP Young Slo-be. I was just bumping Young Slobe Bryant 3x on repeat the other week”, said one user as another posted, “You Just Had to be there. RIP Young Slobe. Gone Way Too soon.” Another chimed in, “Bro why does the West keep doin this ... Bris, Drakeo, Young Slobe  ... s**t wicked foo.”
 
The next one tweeted, “RIP Young Slo-Be. Really was on the come up, been one of my favorite artists for a minute. Very sad. Was thinking about 'Don’t Kome 2 My Funeral' when the news broke. Meanwhile, an individual shared, “Someone say sike bruh young slobe can’t be dead.” One added, “RIP young slobe these streets don’t love you” as, another concluded, “Idk who this brother is, but I do want to say, he is still my brother.
