Spoilers 'Young Sheldon' Season 4 Episode 3 'Training Wheels and an Unleashed Chicken'

In this episode of CBS's 'Young Sheldon,' our favorite 12-year is growing up to get ready for college. He had one dilemma though which led to an injury that further led to self-proclaimed "emotional growth." Sheldon Cooper was trying to figure out how to get from linear algebra class from one side of campus to his physics class on the other side of campus without breaking a sweat - "it's the urine of the skin," he says. In his pursuit to try and figure out this "math problem," he decides to get help from his brother Georgie Cooper, but working out isn't a Sheldon thing. He also tries to get help from his father George Cooper, but access to controlled substances such as the human growth hormone wasn't an option. Lastly, he goes to his sister Missy Cooper to learn how to ride a bike.

He did learn to ride a bike even though it only lasted one minute since he was chased by his neighbors chicken right into a mailbox. Our poor Shelly ended up fracturing arm, and regressed quite quickly becoming as Missy would say, "a baby." Even though his father was there to comfort him and take him to the ER, Sheldon wanted his mother - "she cherishes me," he tells his father. While breaking an arm and getting a cast is a "cool" thing for most kids, Sheldon deemed it a "traumatic" event and said he needed counseling. From then on started his co-dependency with his mother, who never failed to baby her last born. She helped him unzip his pants, brush his teeth, floss, and even cut his food into bite-sized pieces - mind you, he had a perfectly working left hand.

Later, Sheldon has a dream that his mother was his "training wheels" and so desperately wanted to grow up before going to college. One night, while he laid in bed, he wanted his mother to sing 'Soft Kitty' to comfort him, but Missy told him that his idol Stephen Hawking was in a wheelchair and he never whined about it in his "robot voice." If you know Sheldon, you'd know that he was all the motivation he needed. From then on, he soothed himself to sleep, used the bathroom alone, open peanut butter and jelly jars on his own, and even wanted people to sign his cast. Can Shelly be an adult and leave his mom Mary behind for college? We absolutely think so, especially with the help of his family that is helping him grow up a bit before he's in college. His mother signed his cast writing, "You will always be my baby, but I'm so proud of the young man you've become" - that right there was the premise of the entire episode.

'Young Sheldon' airs on Thursdays at 8 pm EST on CBS.
