YouTuber Corey La Barrie killed in crash on birthday, Ink Master's Daniel Silva who was driving car arrested
YouTube star Corey La Barrie was killed in a car accident on his 25th birthday on Sunday, May 10, and his friend, 'Ink Master' star Daniel Silva, has been arrested and booked for Barrie's murder.
The two had been driving around in a McLaren sports car in LA on Corey's birthday and Silva was said to be behind the wheel when the vehicle crashed into a street sign and a tree.
According to reports, Corey had been in the passenger seat and had been more impacted by the accident which left him dead.
Silva, 26, was allegedly driving and reportedly sustained no serious injuries.
"The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division announce the arrest of Daniel Joseph Silva, a 27-year-old driver and resident of Los Angeles for murder," the authorities stated.
As per witness accounts, Silva had been drinking before he had gotten into the car. Both the young men were rushed to a hospital. It has also been reported that Silva is being treated for a broken hip and will either be arrested at the hospital or once he is discharged.
Witnesses also shared with the authorities that the two had attended a party the previous evening and were celebrating Corey's birthday where both were drinking. Silva had been driving the sports car very fast when the fatal accident took place.
Corey's family also confirmed the unfortunate and tragic death of the 25-year-old on social media. They also accused Silva of being drunk and driving and believe he is responsible for Corey's death.
Corey's young brother posted on Instagram, "This isn’t something I thought I would ever have to sit here and type out for a very long time or what I wanna do right now but everyone deserves to know, my brother Corey passed away last night in a car accident with his drunk friend driving… this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I don’t how I’m supposed to do this without you."
"I miss you so much already, this isn’t fair. Thank you for always being the best big brother I could ask for I love you so f***ing much life’s never gonna be the same without you R.I.P. P.S say hi to grandad and grandma for me. I love you."
Corey's mother Lissa Burton shared on Instagram, "My heart breaks right now, on my son’s 25th birthday today. He was very drunk and got into a car with a drunk diver. The accident killed him instantly. No words can describe the sadness I feel in loosening a child. It just feels so unreal and I’m overwhelmed with grief. I love you so much Corey and will miss you so so much. It’s just so unfair."
Corey had uploaded his final video on May 9 where he had discussed his birthday plans. His final tweet read, "Thank you for the birthday wishes love you guys! And if you have the intro to my stream how did you like it?"
Corey had moved from Australia to LA after he was able to make a successful career as a comedic. He also had a YouTube channel with Crawford Collins that was titled Corey & Crawford. The channel had around 104,000 subscribers.
