LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The reason behind Joe Goldberg stopping his killing spree in the upcoming season of Netflix hit show 'YOU' was revealed by the series showrunner, Sera Gamble. 'YOU' first dropped on Netflix in 2018 and is a crime-drama revolving around the life of Joe Goldberg played by Penn Badgley, a charming man who goes to dangerous lengths to connect with people he takes a deep interest in. Produced by Greg Berlanti, the cast consists of Tati Gabrielle, Charlotte Ritchie, Stephen Hagan, and Lukas Gage.

There had been blood, gore, and menace all throughout the previous seasons of Joe going on a killing spree without dreading the consequences of his actions. The audience was anticipating that the same scenario will be at play in season 4 but turns out Joe has stopped short to pursue some other interests. But then, what would 'YOU' be without Joe being obsessed and killing people?

'He’s going to do what it takes to right the karmic scales'

In a recent interview with Netflix, the creator of the show, Sera Gamble, reveals why Joe is done murdering in 'YOU' season 4. In the last season of 'YOU', we see Joe killing his wife, Love Quinn, giving away his baby, and catching the next flight to London, where he plans to settle and make a life for himself away from the consequences he created for himself. When things take off in season 4, Joe is teaching American Literature in London, which is a fitting profession for him.

"Finally, he’s in a position that befits his level of understanding of the books he talks about all the time. He’s genuinely good at it and it’s a pleasure for him to do it. I can say this without spoiling too much: Even when his life is completely falling apart, he still does enjoy teaching class. It’s fun to put someone who knows literary tropes into one of the tropiest stories possible, and it fits nicely with the idea that he’s genuinely going to be different now. He’s done murdering, he’s learned from his mistakes and he’s going to do what it takes to right the karmic scales. That doesn’t just mean grow a beard and teach about American literature, it also means maybe that you have to try to protect the very people [whose fate] previously would’ve had you at least look the other way, if not actively participate in what was going on with them." declared Gamble.

The stalker will be stalked

Penn Badgley has talked about season 4 being a total shift in story and has added the season under the "Mystery" genre where the stalker will be stalked. The roles have been reversed and it's going to be Joe getting tracked this season. There are many theories, and it surely going to be a treat to see Joe figuring out who his stalker is. Here's the trailer for 'YOU' season 4 to get you started.
