In the first episode of 'Yellowstone' Season 4, we saw Beth in the hospital recovering from the bomb explosion. There she runs into a young boy outside whose father died in the same hospital. Episode 2 saw a police officer outside Beth's home with the same kid in the car who lied that Beth is his guardian. Although hesitant at first, she takes him home to Rip and says he's just like him. Rip isn't having this as he then catches the kid trying to rob the cars in the ranch. He lets the kid named Carter stay the night and drop him off in town the next day. The troubled kid gets on his nerves and is kicked out in the middle of the road, but Rip comes back for him. The episode saw him give Carter work on the ranch as he tells John that Carter's just like him. Beth too loves that the kid is here.
