Americas hottest TV show 'Yellowstone' slammed for 'going woke' with lesbian kiss but fans say 'no way'
'Yellowstone' broke all records with the premiere of its fifth season, becoming the most-watched drama on cable television with 12.1 million viewers (liveand same day). The Western drama revolves around the powerful Dutton family, whose influence extends far beyond the state of Montana, and has been so popular that it has already led to a prequel titled '1923," starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. However, the series has taken some criticism on the Internet for the seventh episode of the fifth season, as it features the first lesbian kiss of the series.
This season, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) has become the governor. In the seventh episode of the fifth season, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) makes a plan to replace his father as governor of Montana, and the Dutton family decides to take a trip to the fair in town to blow off some steam. The intensity of the episode was broken by the first lesbian kiss of the series, when Clara, played by Lilli Kay, kisses a woman wearing a cowboy hat at the Montana fair. This plot twist did not go over well with some fans on the Internet, who called the series funny. One such user, Aubrey Huff, tweeted, "Even Yellowstone has gone woke, and gay! Sellouts!" Fans, however, were not amused and defended 'Yellowstone.'

Fans defend 'Yellowstone' amid 'woke' remarks
One user tweeted, "I disagree with this assessment. The whole premise of the show is show that John Dutton and the ranch stands against woke and progressivism. It’s used as antagonistic story line. Plus I’m lost on the gay comment. I can’t even think of a gay character in all 5 seasons." Another user tweeted, "How so? What is woke about it?? Just because it showed two lesbians for 2 seconds? I know lots of conservative gay ppl. Gay doesn’t mean they’re woke. Yellowstone is anything but woke." One user tweeted, "I still like the show. If it bugs you that much turn on some John Wayne movies, that will fix it"

One user wrote, "If anything it gives you snippets of truths and reality so just maybe small minded people can think for themselves and grasp the fact your learned behavior and thinking is skewed to say the least" Another user tweeted, "It’s not woke. People are up in arms because 2 lesbians kissed for like a split second. Big deal. I know lesbian conservatives. Doesn’t have anything to do with wokeness." One user said, "If you're watching Yellowstone and come away from that as an anti-woke from the beginning tells me all I need to know about how well you comprehend storylines. It's been a social commentary. You just miss it all."
