'X-Men '97' Episode 7: From General Ross to Amelia Vought, 5 Easter eggs you may have missed in 'Bright Eyes'
Contains spoilers for 'X-Men '97'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In 'X-Men '97' Episode 7, we dive into the aftermath of the Fall of Genosha. The mutants left behind are mourning the loss caused by the Wild Sentinel's attack.
Rogue and the X-Men start digging to uncover the truth behind the assault. This episode is packed with nods to the original comics and some big reveals.
We start with Gambit's funeral, setting a somber tone. But things escalate when it's revealed that Mister Sinister isn't the only villain involved. The big surprise? Magneto is still alive. It's a twist that keeps fans hooked.
On that relieving note, here are 5 best Easter eggs and references from 'X-Men '97' Episode 7.
What does OZT mean?
In 'X-Men '97', Rogue finds out about a secret group called OZT. It's linked to Gyrich, Trask, and a surprise appearance by Bastion. In the original comics, OZT means Operation: Zero Tolerance.
It's a global group that hates mutants and wants to eliminate them permanently. Bastion is the leader of this group in the comics, and it seems the same in 'X-Men '97'.
'X-Men '97' has its own General Ross (and maybe even a Hulk)
In 'X-Men '97', General Thunderbolt Ross shows up unexpectedly as the base's officer in charge. He also mentions The Incredible Hulk, hinting that the base was made to hold him.
Rogue easily breaks into the base, looking for Gyrich. In the MCU, Ross was Secretary of State and will soon become President in 'Captain America: Brave New World', with Harrison Ford taking over the role.
Captain America's MCU theme plays in 'X-Men '97'
Rogue keeps looking for answers and ends up at the same secret facility where Captain America is investigating. It's a brief appearance, but there are some cool nods.
The MCU theme for Captain America plays, and his motorcycle's license plate AVN-A10 refers to a comic where Rogue first appeared.
Captain America is voiced by Josh Keaton, who also voices him in 'Marvel's What If...?'.
MCU's classic drink 'Pingo Doce' makes a brief appearance in 'X-Men '97'
In the 'X-Men '97' episode, there's a secret lab disguised as a vending machine. Morph picks a can of Diet Pinto Doce to open it, which is funny because it's the same soda Stan Lee drank in his cameo in 'The Incredible Hulk'.
Pingo Doce is a guava-flavored drink that MCU fans can try at Disney's California Adventure and Avengers Campus.
Amelia Vought helps with Genosha's fallout
Beast helps with relief efforts on Genosha and meets Amelia Vought, who's aiding the injured. Amelia has the power to turn matter into vapor.
In the original X-Men series, she was part of Magneto's Acolytes on Asteroid M. She was also a love interest of Professor Xavier and later helped the X-Men fight the Phalanx.
Amelia was also present during the Fall of Genosha in the comics.
