WIGAN, ENGLAND: A desperate dog owner is prepared to sell his own house to pay vet bills up to $24,128 (£20,000) in a frantic bid to save his "little angel." Jaxon Feeley said, on January 20, his two-year-old Weimaraner, affectionately called Rambo went into hypovolemic shock - a critical condition where excessive blood or other fluid loss prevents the heart from pumping enough blood to the body. "She began vomiting throughout the night over 30 times and by Saturday morning we were in the emergency vets," he said.

Things got worse for Rambo after she also contracted stomach flu or gastroenteritis, and her health rapidly declined. She spent 10 days in intensive care and Feeley vowed to do all he can to save her life even if it meant selling his own home, Daily Mail reported. Feeley, who works as a Prison officer, even organized a GoFundMe page to raise money for Rambo’s treatment. "Rambo's insurance has covered her up to £6500 ($7840.95). Her bill is now up to £11,500 ($13,872.45) after 1 week in care," he said in the post. He added, "It is unknown how long Rambo will need to stay at the vets and intensive care costs are approximately £1000 ($1206.30) per day."

Feeley also stated that Rambo was vomiting throughout the first week of her veterinarian care, with the fluid draining back into her lungs. She subsequently developed a lung infection and suffered severe pneumonia. "In the vet's words, Rambo could not have been any more unlucky with what has happened. The initial cause is still unknown but the position Rambo is in now has resulted in her being in intensive care under 24/7 observation," Feeley said.

Rambo developed lung infection and suffered severe pneumonia

Feeley added, "The vets are now continuously attempting to drain Rambo's lung and monitoring the infection within her lungs whilst assessing the level of bacteria in the fluid which is being drained out. Due to all of the medication now on Rambo, she is still vomiting and hasn't eaten any food herself for a week." He continued, "However if it is, which is my biggest fear, the risk to Rambo's life is significant. I could never forgive myself if I couldn't give her the best fighting chance to pull through this horrendous situation."

In an update posted on Thursday, February 2, the devastated owner said Rambo’s treatment bill has reached around $24,128 (£20,000). More than 900 people donated for Rambo’s help, with the fundraising page raising $17164.44 (£14,229) out of the $12063.00 (£10,000) goal. Feeley even slept in his car near the vet’s clinic so he could be close to his "little angel" as he didn’t want her to suffer alone.

Jaxon Feeley said Rambo returned home after having 'pulled off a miracle'

On February 5, Feeley gave a happy update, saying Rambo has finally returned home after having "pulled off a miracle." "Over the last 3 days, Rambo has pulled off a miracle, hour by hour she has increased her oxygen efficiency, started eating and drinking, her lungs are slowly recovering and we started to see that beautiful little personality resurface," he said in the post. Feeleh added, "She got herself into a little routine of seeing me for 10 minutes every 4 hours that she even knew what corner of the waiting room to find me in."

He added, "There was no way in hell I was ever going to give up on this gorgeous girl, she is just a baby, with a want to live and be happy with her big brother Rocky and the Feeleys." Feeley also thanked all the well-wishers who supported him and Rambo during their tough times. He stated, "There are no words to express how grateful I am for everyone’s love, support & donations over the last 2 weeks. It genuinely means more than you will ever know." However, though Rambo is home, she hasn't recovered completely.
