Contains spoilers for 'Women in Blue' Episode 2 and speculations for Episode 3

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO: The first two episodes of 'Women in Blue' have officially premiered on Apple TV+. It revolves around Maria (Bárbara Mori), Valentina (Natalia Téllez), Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), and Angeles (Ximena Sariñana), who join the first female police force in Mexico.

In Episode 1, it is revealed that a serial killer is targeting and murdering young women. Amid the terror caused by the killer in the Mexican capital, the government, seeking to shift attention away from the underperforming police force, initiates a recruitment campaign for female officers.

At the end of 'Women in Blue' Episode 1, the female recruits complete their training camp and proudly wear their blue police uniforms. Meanwhile, a woman named Paola is seen leaving work late at night.

'Women in Blue' Episode 2 begins with the aftermath of a dramatic event from Episode 1. Let's discuss key events from 'Women in Blue' Episode 2 and speculate on what might occur in Episode 3.

What happened in 'Women in Blue' Episode 2?

In 'Women in Blue' Episode 2, the newly recruited female officers are assigned the task of patrolling the park to assist anyone in need and to report any suspicious activities.

If they encounter anything amiss, they are instructed to use a coin to make a telephone call to the male officers, who will then respond to the situation.

Valentina is furious with the authorities because the female officers are not provided with guns or their own cars, unlike their male counterparts. This disparity in resources and equipment underscores the ongoing gender discrimination within the police force.

Meanwhile, Paola's sister files a complaint with the police, but they neither listen to her nor take a missing persons report. Later, while searching for a missing dog, Maria discovers Paola's dead body in a park.

The police arrive, take footprints, and arrest a man named Margarito Hidalgo Flores, who is a gardener. He is mentally unstable, and the male officers force him to sign a confession admitting to the crimes of killing other young women and Paola.

Maria tells the authorities that it is wrong to force Margarito to confess, as he doesn't understand what is happening due to his mental instability. She pleads with them, explaining that he is incapable of comprehending the situation and likely did not commit the crimes.

However, the authorities dismiss her concerns and proceed with their actions. Later on, Margarito is found dead in his cell, and the authorities claim he killed himself out of guilt for committing the crimes.

Maria takes Paola's sister to identify the victim and questions her. When Paola's sister mentions that she saw Paola leaving in an expensive car, Maria asks if it was common for her sister to go out with men in cars. Paola's sister gets angry and urge her not to call Paola prostitute.

Octavio Romandia (Miguel Rodarte) calls Maria and scolds her because Paola's sister wanted to file a report against Maria.

In the end, viewers are shown a man handling a women's doll with dismembered hands while watching the news report.

What to expect in 'Women in Blue' Episode 3?

It seems Maria will take it upon herself to investigate the case, as the male officers are ignoring her concerns. She is convinced that Margarito, the gardener, was not the true culprit.

Maria may question how a man with such limited means could have access to the expensive car that Paola was seen leaving in. This car, which was described as being high-end, would be beyond the financial reach of someone in Margarito's position.

Maria may decide to take matters into her own hands by reaching out to the families of the victims to gather more information and understand the situation better.

By asking detailed questions and delving into the personal stories of those affected, she may piece together crucial details that might reveal the true identity of the perpetrator.

Her investigation could lead her to uncover inconsistencies and overlooked evidence, helping her build a clearer picture of the case. Meanwhile, the real killer remains at large and could target another woman.

If the male officers discover that Maria is conducting an independent investigation into the case, they may see her actions as insubordination or interference with their work. This could lead to serious consequences for Maria, including the possibility of being fired from her position.

Such an action would not only jeopardize her career but also represent a significant personal and professional setback.
