'Is her hairless cat at home with an AC that won’t turn off?' Woman seen knitting during thrilling US Open match breaks Internet
NEWYORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a thrilling US Open semi-final between Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz, a woman was seen hilariously knitting during the match. Though a large section of the audience had nail-biting moments throughout the match, cameras caught a woman knitting during the five-set thriller that was eventually won by Alcaraz.
According to New York Post, Spanish teenager Alcaraz reached his first Grand Slam final by seeing off American star Tiafoe in five sets. The third seed won 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 6-1 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 to secure his place in the final. Alcaraz won his third successive five-set match as he became the youngest man to reach the championship final since Pete Sampras in style.

However, this is not the first time US Open is witnessing such bizarre moments. Earlier in the week, YouTube star JiDion received a haircut during the quarterfinal match between Nick Kyrgios and Karen Khachanov. Also, during this week US Open 2022 saw the return of Megan Lucky, a fan whose beer-chugging exercise in Arthur Ashe Arena last year made her a viral sensation.

Last year when the camera zoomed on her, Lucky showed great agility to reach out for her boyfriend’s beer, and gulped it down in one attempt, while the audience cheered for her. Lucky seized her moment again this year, as she quickly finished her partner’s beer, but amidst louder reception from the rest of the spectators. Meanwhile, Alcaraz will face Ruud in Sunday’s final, with World No1 status also on the line. The champion will replace Russian star Daniil Medvedev atop the rankings after he crashed out in the last 16.
"How do these kind of people get into a sporting event like that ?"
Social media users and fans were quick to respond to the bizarre view. A fan stated, "She probably paid thousands for seat!! What a waste!" while another said, "How do these kind of people get into a sporting event like that ? Like how ? Had so many people watching outside the stadium that could not get in that would have loved to get in to watch those guys battle it out &Like the 2 weirdos that were cutting hair for a hair cut as well." Later, another user tweeted, "Maybe she was nervous because the match was a pins and needles on the edge match."
A tweet read, "I need the backstory. Who is she knitting for? Is her hairless cat at home with an air conditioner that won’t turn off?" Another fan stated, "May be shying away from a heart attack. What a match." A fan stated, "The difference is, they removed to guys involved in the hair cutting but did nothing to the knitter. Was that double standard or barbering while being black." "That shot of the woman knitting in the stands @usopen during this tiebreak has me wondering - is she disinterested in this nail-biter of a match or is she trying to calm her nerves?" said a user.
