Heart-stopping video shows woman saved from car just SECONDS before it disappears into sinkhole

Three firefighters and the woman who was saved when the massive sinkhole opened on the road were taken to the hospital for minor injuries

EL PASO, TEXAS: On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, the El Paso Fire Department saved a woman miraculously from a sinkhole in the middle of the road. The police still have not identified the woman driving a white sedan along Yandell and Gateway South in El Paso around 6:40 pm on Tuesday.

It was reported that when the woman was driving along Yandell and Gateway South, one of the massive sinkholes opened up just under her car. Many of the firefighters from El Paso, Texas, and locals helped the woman from falling into the hole. The incident happened at the intersection of Gateway Boulevard South near Yandell Drive.

The footage showed a group of men trying to prevent the car from sinking further into the water. Meanwhile, other samaritans were pulling the woman out of the vehicle’s rear windshield. The video later showed the car spinning around as it goes deep into the water depths.

Firefighters were also treated at the spot for minor injuries when they broke the back window to rescue the woman. At one point, only the rear of the car and its taillights are visible in the footage. Heavy rain poured in parts of El Paso which is also indicated as the reason for the opening up of the sinkhole.

None of the police officers or firefighters were heavily injured in the operation. However, three firefighters and the woman were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, according to a report by New York Post.

El Paso Fire Department thanked everyone who helped in the operation and stated on Facebook, "Earlier, EPFD crews successfully rescued a woman from a car that fell into a sinkhole on Yandell and Gateway South. Patient transported with minor injuries. TXDOT and EP Water on the scene. Special thank you to the good Samaritans that assisted the crews in this rescue. Area closed until further notice. Please use alternate routes."

The Gateway South route in El Paso remains closed as of now and the officials have requested the passengers to use alternative routes to travel The car was pulled from the sinkhole on Wednesday, August 10 and the crew and administration are still working to fill the hole with dirt to bring the route back to normalcy.
