Kate Middleton made her comeback to Wimbledon on Saturday, July 9, as she was spotted sitting in the front row in a sunny yellow dress for the women’s final. She had also attended Wimbledon last year. The Duchess of Cambridge, who is the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, handed over the Wimbledon 2022 trophy to maiden winner Elena Rybakina. Also spotted in the audience were Hollywood icon Tom Cruise and renowned crooner Ellie Goulding.
 
Tom Cruise, who is currently basking in the global success of his movie ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, was caught a bit off-guard by the cameras after he was reportedly seen spotting Kate Middleton in the audience. Speaking of Kate Middleton, the 40-year-old is an avid tennis player and she usually watches Wimbledon from the Royal Box. While Kate thoroughly enjoyed the match, Prince William did not turn up at the coveted event.

Tom Cruise spots Kate Middleton during the Wimbledon match

Tom Cruise, according to PageSix, was seen leaning from his seat behind Middleton to apparently get a good look at her. Social media users too were quick to jump on the news as they trolled the 60-year-old actor for his quirky stunt.
 
The legendary star seems to share a good rapport with the Royals as the ‘Mission Impossible’ actor was also seen with Kate and her husband Prince William at the London premiere of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. The actor recently earned praises when he escorted Kate Middleton to the steps as Prince William walked alongside, seemingly adjusting his jacket and tie.

On the work front, Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ shattered records as it scored a massive $300million opening. The action-drama flick entered record books by breaking the Memorial Day record with a massive three-day domestic haul of $126.7 million. Earlier, Paramount and Skydance expected the sequel to earn $124 million in the first three days of its release and finish the long weekend with $151 million. However, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ sold more tickets than any other movie and pushed the four-day tally to $160.5 million.
