‘Grown Ups 3’ gets major production update after 13 years as Adam Sandler gears up for ultimate adventure
After a 13-year wait, Netflix finally dropped major news regarding ‘Grown Ups 3’. On August 6, the streamer confirmed that the third film is officially in production, with filming taking place in New Jersey. Netflix took to Instagram to share a group photo of the cast sitting around a dinner table and looking at the camera. The caption read, “The gang’s all back for GROWN UPS 3! Now in production.” Adam Sandler is just as excited as fans. He shared the same photo on his own Instagram account and wrote, “We missed you!” The plot details have not been confirmed yet. Only a single line has been revealed by Netflix so far: “Now that their kids are all grown up, the gang is finally free to go on the ultimate adventure.”
Fans are sure to be over the moon with the long list of returning cast members. Adam Sandler is back as Lenny Feder, alongside Kevin James as Eric Lamonsoff, Chris Rock as Kurt McKenzie, David Spade as Marcus Higgins, Rob Schneider as Rob Hilliard, Maya Rudolph as Deanne McKenzie, Maria Bello as Sally Lamonsoff, and Salma Hayek Pinault as Roxanne Chase-Feder. Other returning stars include Steve Buscemi, Jackie Sandler, Shaquille O'Neal, Colin Quinn, Tim Meadows, Cheri Oteri, Ellen Cleghorne, Nick Swardson, Jake Goldberg, Alexys Nycole Sanchez, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Ada-Nicole Sanger, Morgan Gingerich, Kaleo Elam, Nadji Jeter, and Kamil McFadden. Meanwhile, Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, and Bailee Madison are set to join the film as newcomers.
Kyle Newacheck, known for ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ on Netflix, will be in the director's chair. The script comes from Sandler and his longtime writing partner, Tim Herlihy, who both co-wrote the sequel. Apart from writing and acting, Sandler is also producing alongside Herlihy, Jackie Sandler, and Jack Giarraputo. Executive producers include Kevin Grady, Fred Wolf, Jackie Shenoo, Aidan Elliott, Kristen Ploucha, Sarah Sarandos, and Judit Maull. Since filming has just started, the release window has not been confirmed yet. Fans will need to wait a few more months before getting a release date, first look, or trailer. That shouldn't be too hard, as they have already waited more than a decade since ‘Grown Ups 2’ was released in 2013.
