‘High Potential’ Season 2 Episode 10 teases a surprise twist for Morgan’s LAPD role and we’re concerned
From working as a cleaning lady to becoming a consultant for LAPD, Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) has come a long way since the premiere of 'High Potential.' Morgan, along with Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), continues solving complex cases in Season 2 as well. However, it seems her dream run with the LAPD may be coming to an end, as Season 2, Episode 10 hints that Morgan could be off the team, and the reason is quite unexpected.
As per reports, in 'High Potential' Season 2, Episode 10, Morgan heads to the Training Academy after Internal Affairs receives complaints about her. Furthermore, she had received no formal training since joining the LAPD. While other departments envy Major Crimes' success, the reports highlight issues with Morgan's personality, handling of evidence, and occasional contamination of crime scenes. These problems ultimately become part of her training, as per Precinct TV. At first, Morgan laughs off the idea of attending the Training Academy, but she soon realizes the stakes are high, as failing could end her LAPD career, making passing the challenging program essential for her and the team.
In the upcoming episode, Morgan and Karadec investigate a case where a parachuter dies mid-air. While the parachute isn't to blame, Morgan is determined to uncover the cause, even as questions arise about why Major Crimes was called in immediately. Her ability to stay on the case is uncertain, given her ongoing Training Academy requirements. In 'High Potential' Season 2, the introduction of LAPD's new Captain Wagner (Steve Howey) adds tension, as his strict oversight clashes with Morgan's rule-breaking, and her partner Karadec can only defend her so much.
While Wagner's concerns are mostly settled, he continues to watch Morgan closely, leaving her future with the team uncertain, as per TV Insider. Showrunner Todd Harthan also teases Wagner's mysterious past, saying, "One of the things we're most excited about in the back half is all those seeds that we planted in the last couple of episodes. We have not put a fine point on who Wagner is or what his background is. We only know a little bit about his own family ties and that they're powerful and he's a little bit of a nepo baby. All that blooms in the back half. We start unpacking where he came from, where he used to work, and what his own personal trauma has been."
Not only that, but Harthan also explains the evolving dynamic between Karadec and Morgan, "So, yeah, Karadec is in protection mode quite a bit. But I think the exciting thing about the arc of the season is as partners, the tides will turn, and there's probably going to be a time or two this season where Karadec is going to need her to protect him." He adds, "That's, by design, what we've built out in the back half of the season," hinting at surprising role reversals between the partners.
