Will Meghan and Harry attend King Charles' coronation? Former royals were asked to 'stay away'
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly warned not to attend King Charles’ coronation, which is expected to be held on May 6, next year. A group of distinguished former British politicians, generals, and historians came out and demanded the former royals be banned from the upcoming royal event, amid the release of their bombshell Netflix docuseries on December 8.
Former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith told Daily Mail, “If they dislike the Royal Family so much why would they attend the Coronation?” “They shouldn’t come to the Coronation. They categorically shouldn’t come. They make money out of selling their family down the river. I think it should be made clear that the British people do not want them there,” another Tory veteran David Mellor added. Moreover, he also suggested that people “would be perfectly entitled to boo if the couple did turn up,” adding, “They are a sad pair and there is no hope for them on their current course.”

Historian and author Lady Antonia Fraser noted, “I hope they don’t come because I want the King and Queen to be the center of attention. It worries me that if they come the cameras might waste time on them. They should stay holding hands in Hollywood.” The intervention comes days after the show's first episodes featured Harry's allegations of ‘unconscious bias’ against people of color in the Royal Family, an upsetting portrayal of the Commonwealth, the late Queen's beloved, as ‘Empire 2.0,’ and Meghan's extravagant mockery of a royal tradition.
Additionally, a shocking poll, according to the Daily Mail, found that 48% of Britons think Harry should be removed from the succession plan and that close to 50% think the Sussexes should lose their royal titles. According to a poll conducted almost half of the respondents think the couple should not be allowed to attend the Coronation. Earlier, according to Express Uk, former US law enforcement officer George R Franks warned ‘increasingly tenacious’ attacks on the Royal Family could inspire an assassin to attack the King or other senior royals.
"I have been studying their increasingly tenacious attack on the character of the royals and the institution of the monarchy for the past several months with a growing concern for the safety of the members of the ‘working royals’, but also for the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales. I have experience with cases where individuals have committed or attempted to commit violent crimes in support of the cause of another towards whom they have become enamored and protective,” he remarked.
