Will Apple remove Twitter from App Store? Elon Musk accuses tech giant of ‘threatening to withhold’ app
SAN FRANSISCO, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk claimed in a recent tweet that Apple has threatened to remove Twitter from the App Store. On Tuesday, November 29, Chief Twit wrote on his official Twitter handle, "Apple has also threatened to withhold Twitter from its App Store, but won’t tell us why."
According to The Guardian, last week a similar conversation happened over Twitter when a journalist Liz Wheeler, posted a question to Musk asking, "If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?."

To this, Musk responded, "I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone." Earlier this month, the head of Apple’s App Store, Phil Schiller deleted his official Twitter handle. At that point, Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, Alex Heath tweeted, "The head of Apple’s App Store, Phil Schiller, deleted his Twitter account over the weekend. Not a good sign for Musk’s business relationship with his most critical source of distribution." Musk in another tweet stated, "Apple has mostly stopped advertising on Twitter. Do they hate free speech in America?" by tagging Tim Cook in the tweet. Meanwhile, Twitter recently announced a “general amnesty” for permanently suspended Twitter accounts including Donald Trump.

'Stop acting like a victim'
The Internet was quick to react to Musk's tweet. A user said "You implemented changes you knew would cause issues. You destroyed trust in validation. You disrupted critical infrastructure. You fired the staff. You encouraged extremists to return with their brand of "comedy". Apple's store has too high of standards for what Twitter is now." Another claimed, " It's obvious to everyone else. Maybe ask someone who is willing to be honest with you about why this is happening." A user added, "Doesn’t Apple have the freedom of speech to remove Twitter from their App Store just like you have the freedom to fire folks? Lol."
A user stated, "Android life here I come." Another wrote, "Make a phone called orange." A user tweeted, "Because you refuse to moderate content; they tell every app what their store terms/conditions are. Stop acting like a victim." Another said, "Anytime any company thwarts him he should open his own version. Starbucks gets his order wrong, he opens Tesla Coffee. Great idea moving forward."
