Will Amber Heard be fired from 'Aquaman 2' after Johnny Depp's 'Fantastic Beasts' exit? Petition gets 1.5M signatures
A petition to fire actress Amber Heard from Marvel's Aquaman 2' has garnered more than 1.5 million signatures as fans of actor Johnny Depp allege that his ex-wife “systematically crusaded” to ruin his career. The petition comes in the aftermath of Heard and Depp launching domestic abuse allegations at each other. Johnny Depp also lost a court case against a British newspaper that called him a “wife-beater” and claimed there was “overwhelming evidence” that show he reportedly assaulted the actress Amber Heard during their marriage.
As per the court’s ruling, the assaults inflicted by ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star on Heard include “head-butting Ms. Heard, repeatedly hitting her and tearing out clumps of her hair”, wrote judge Andrew Nicol, who heard the case, as reported by The New York Times. For the unversed, Heard, 34, and Depp, 57, have constantly accused one other of domestic abuse during their two-year marriage between 2015-2017.
Earlier Depp, who played Gellert Grindelwald in 'Fantastic Beasts', declared his exit from the role in the upcoming third movie in the series. This came on the heels of Warner Bros studio executives reportedly requesting his resignation due to the domestic abuse case. As a result of the case, Depp stepped down from the role and said, “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros from my role as Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and I have respected and agreed to that request.” As per reports, actor Mads Mikkelsen, who played the antagonist in ‘Casino Royale’, will replace Depp in the upcoming movie.
Now after Depp's exit from 'Fantastic Beasts', fans have come out in his support. They demand ex-wife Heard to be fired from 'Aquaman 2' alleging that “she has systematically crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood". The petition,‘Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2’, alleged that Heard “created false accounts of him (Depp) being the abuser”.
The petition said, “Amber Heard has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached. He will bear the scar from that for the rest of his life.”
It continued, “Likewise, Heard recounts fabricated incidents of Johnny Depp hitting her in the face when she had, in fact, punched him.” The petition ended by saying, “As Amber Heard is a known and proven domestic abuser, Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should and must remove Heard from their Aquaman 2 film project. They must not ignore the suffering of Heard's victims, and must not glamorize a domestic abuser.”
On November 12, Heard had addressed the rumors, calling them baseless. She said, “Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality. Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
