'Wicked Tuna': Is Dave 'too scared' to cross the dangerous Atlantic Ocean bar? Teams gang up to troll him

The bar is often addressed as 'the graveyard of the Atlantic' where the sand lies just 5 feet under, the conditions can change rapidly, and the waves can get as high as 14 feet

Dave Carraro of F/V Tuna.com has been scaling the leaderboard like it's a walk in the park. He is competitive and hates to lose. But this time, he and his team are faced with a unique challenge. The fishermen have to cross the sandbar to reach the spot from where they can catch a few tunas. It's easier said than done. The waves are huge and destructive by nature, which means the captain and his team should be well versed in maneuvering rough seas.

Dave didn't want to risk it. He turned his boat around just before reaching the bar and the remaining teams, mainly Fishin' Frenzy, Pinwheel, and Hot Tuna couldn't stop trolling him for that. They called him scared for not taking up on a good challenge. "Dot com's too scared," Tyler McLaughlin laughs as he tells TJ Ott. But he has reasons to be scared. The bar is often addressed as "the graveyard of the Atlantic". The sand lies just 5 feet under, the conditions can change rapidly, and the waves can get as high as 14 feet. "Boats sink, people die," said Captain Greg Mayer of Fishin' Frenzy. TJ too pointed towards similar outcomes. "If you don't pay attention and you get caught in a bad set of waves, it's game over."

So, the fear is leveled across boats. It's just that Dave took his time to assess and work on the situation at hand. But, the extra time he took to get where he was at the end of the episode, paid off. Dave was able to prove the competing teams wrong when he returned on day 2 and was able to successfully catch the biggest fish of the episode, measuring at 115cm. Although, the money was just about decent, with the catch Dave was able to prove that it's okay to be cautious and was feeling proud that he fought against so many people and their opinions. It was a sweet victory for him. Greg was left pleasantly surprised that Dave did it.
