LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lionel Richie is very particular about his looks and he likes to keep it uncomplicated. The celebrated singer whose career span over four decades recently launched his own fragrance range and also talked about his iconic mustache. He certainly set a trend with his appearance when he started his musical career.

The 74-year-old is living it out at this age when many artists consider retirement. "If I can get eight hours of sleep, as much water as I can possibly drink without overdoing it, three meals a day, and, for the most part, the rest of it is kind of built into my business, which is exercise. Two hours a night on a full stage,” he spilled the beans on how he keeps up with his tireless schedule.

Why does Lionel Richie want to keep his iconic mustache?

Lionel Richie, the legendary R&B singer got candid about his looks in a recent interview and talked about his ‘obsession’. “My mustache has always been my signature. And I didn't really realize it was going to be my signature.” He told People, “But it started from a very simple equation, which is called, I'm in a hotel room for seven hours before I do a show. I am obsessed with a mirror. And all of a sudden, one day someone gave me one of those five-time [magnifying] mirrors. And that messed me up for life.”

Richie shares that just like his music, he is dedicated to his ‘perfect.’ “I'm the guy who obsesses over the fact of is it equal on the left side? On the right side?” he said while launching his Easy Like Sunday Morning fragrance on HSN.

'It's how you navigate your stress'

The singer-songwriter further shared how he keeps stress at bay despite demanding work, “When they always say stress free, a doctor gave me the greatest advice one day about stress. He said, the day you're stress and pain free, you're dead. So it's how you navigate your stress.” Adding, “And so what I do is when you see me doing the fragrances like I'm doing now, my gardens and my planting and stuff, my design, my artwork — I should say architecture stuff — I'm that guy," Richie added. "So I find as many ways as I can create as possible, and that's my bliss.”

Richie is father to three children, Nicole Richie, 41, Miles Brockman, 29, and Sofia Richie Grainge, 24, whom he walked down the aisle at her wedding to music executive Ellion Grange in April this year.
