Why did Sheinelle Jones 'hit' Al Roker? 'Today' host shuts down meteorologist for his rude behavior on air
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Today’ host Sheinelle Jones put meteorologist Al Roker in his place for bothering and teasing a special guest on the morning show.
Sheinelle playfully slapped Al’s arm after he went overboard with his teasing antics with nutrition expert Joy Bauer who made a slight on-air blunder.
The 59-year-old nutrition expert was on the show to host the ‘Super Food Friday’ segment on the show and accidentally said a different set of words instead of the correct lingo.
This was instantly picked up by Al who doesn’t miss chances to tease and mock his peers or guests on the show. Although, Al stretched the joke for a while, forcing co-host Sheinelle Jones to intervene and shut him down by ‘slapping’ his arm.
Sheinelle Jones ‘hits’ Al Roker for teasing Joy Bauer for her ‘slip-up’ on ‘Today’
Health expert Joy Bauer was introducing a few healthy meals that viewers could easily recreate at home during her special segment.
Joy began, "I needed something for dinner, and I didn't want to fuss, and I was tired and exhausted"
So I opened up my fridge and I saw that I had a mound of coleslaw. So what I done did.” Joy accidentally saying "done did" instead of "I did" was instantly pointed out by ‘Today’ anchor Craig Melvin.
"What I 'done did,'" he said with a laugh. However, it was the 68-year-old weatherman who didn’t stop with it and took it further with the joke.
Al continued to poke fun at Joy along with Craig but Sheinelle had it with him and finally intervened. At first, she comforted Joy with a side hug and then pounced on her co-stars to stop the teasing.
The attempt proved futile since Al continued to tease her while she revealed the ingredients in her rotisserie chicken coleslaw. Sheinelle stepped in again, gently ‘hitting’ Al’s shoulder, asking him again to stop his teasing antics.
Al Roker has a history of teasing guests on ‘Today’
Al Roker is famous for poking fun at his guests on ‘Today.’ Recently Neil deGrasse Tyson came under the wagon of Al’s jokes when he appeared on the morning show as a special guest.
Al had a special quiz prepared for Neil. The question was, “Who's warmer? Death Valley, California, or the Apollo 11 Landing Site?”
Neil answered correctly and instantly broke into his ‘happy dance’ on air. Al stood by and mocked Neil for his awkward dance. “I don't know if we really needed to see that.”
