As soon as the singer debuted her new look, her name started to trend on Twitter. One curious fan asked her, "Did you go bald for a specific reason like the TV show or just felt like it?" to which the 'Eastside' hitmaker replied, "I was growing it out for so long and I told myself I wouldn’t shave it till I saw what it was like healthy and long and then I saw it healthy and long and said, "Mm this is nice but I miss bald and then so I did it!"
Halsey had actually hinted she was ready to make the cut. "When I was bald everybody was so damn mean to mean [sic]," she tweeted on October 15. "Now every hot girl ever has a bald head does that mean I can go bald again or what."

Reactions poured in from all sides on the micro-blogging site. One fan wrote, "Bye I'm – Halsey shaving her head on breast cancer awareness month made me happy even though I know it has nothing to do with it but still lol," while another, feeling inspired by the singer to do the same, said, "Halsey is really making me want to get the bald cut too. She makes it look so beautiful."
A different fan of the 'Boy With Luv' singer added, "I hope Miss Halsey knows she just caused one of the greatest moments of gay panic in 2020 and we are thriving," while another, in all caps, simply said, "Baldsey is back."
