Why did Doe Doe ditch Honey Boo Boo's graduation? 'Mama June: Family Crisis' star Pumpkin confronts aunt for skipping major celebration
GORDON, GEORGIA: 'Mama June: Family Crisis' star Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson geared up for graduation and received love and gifts from her family for her big day. Honey Boo Boo's sister and legal guardian, Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efrid, made sure to make her younger sister's special day memorable. Pumpkin planned a graduation party for Honey Boo Boo and invited close family members and friends.
However, Mama 'June' Shannon's sister Jo 'Doe Doe' Shannon, texted Pumpkin that she could not make it to Honey Boo Boo's graduation, leaving the WETv star furious. Pumpkin read Doe Doe's text in front of her husband, Josh Efrid, "Oh my god look at this text." She added, "Do you know I texted Doe and I was like we need to meet at the parking lot at 9... she's like well me and Amber won't be able to make it we had the wrong dates."
Pumpkin further revealed that Doe Doe was in Florida on Honey Boo Boo's graduation day. The text continued, "We are on our way to Florida Please hold our shirts and let me know if they're going to show it virtually." Doe Doe added in her text, "We want to at least see her walk. We wish we could be there. We love you." Doe Doe's text left Pumpkin angry and said, "So you going to tell me you are not going to show up today."
She admitted in the confessional, "Honestly I can't believe out of all people not here is Doe Doe like she sent me a tag and that's fine but now you are on vacation in Florida on Lana's graduation day." Meanwhile, in the preview of the upcoming episode, Pupking met Doe Doe at the cafe and called her out for ditching Honey Boo Boo's graduation.
Jo Shannon pens tribute to Honey Boo Boo on her graduation
Although Jo 'Doe Doe' Shannon failed to attempt Honey Boo Boo's graduation in 2023, she made sure to celebrate her niece's big day. To mark the occasion, she took to her Instagram and shared a sweet before and now photos of Honey Boo Boo. She also posted a video featuring a photo of Honey Boo Boo at what appeared to be an elementary school graduation.
She also added a recent photo from the WETv star's high school graduation with Paradise's song, 'Moments We Live For' played in the background. Alongside the video, Doe Doe wrote in the captions, "You came a long way the hard way and now you are looking at #colleges." She added, "Praying you find the right one for you. You deserve the best and definitely a much easier road from what you have already traveled."
Doe Doe also expressed how proud she was of her niece in a separate post. She shared a picture of Honey Boo Boo and wrote, "So proud of my niece @honeybooboo Thru all the hardships and craziness you have shown them all that you are going to win and all of us are so proud of you." Mama June's sister added, "You deserve all the world has to offer you and I can’t wait to see how far you will succeed in your life. You are a #beautiful #kind #intelligent woman. Keep shining."
Honey Boo Boo appreciates Pumpkin's gift for her graduation
Pumpkin and Josh Efird surprised Honey Boo Boo with a very special graduation day gift: a new pink car, which she loved. Josh revealed that he and Honey Boo Boo's boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, had to paint a house for 'two weeks' to gift her the car.
He then revealed that the new car was originally a brown-red color, adding, "And then we had to paint it cause, like, it was ugly." A flashback video showed Honey Boo Boo pointing out a luxury SUV at a dealership as she admitted in the confessional, "It's not exactly the fancy ride I was hoping for."
However, she appreciated Pumpkin's gift and said, "But I love my new car. Like, it’s my favorite color. Pink goes with everything, OK." She added, "The best part is that I don’t have any car payments." Meanwhile, Pumpkin pointed out that Honey Boo Boo still needed to get her license so that she could drive her car to Colorado.
