In December, Adam was all smiles as Billy was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the event, the couple kissed as Porter posed with his plaque above his star. Billy was overwhelmed with excitement as he accepted the honor and sensed his husband's support. The couple split six months after the major event.

After six years of marriage, Billy and his husband Adam are splitting. The award-winning 'Pose' and 'Cinderella' actor, who is currently starring in the upcoming gay divorce drama film titled 'Our Son', told People on Wednesday, July 5, via his representative Simon Halls, about the split and stated that the decision was amicable and came from both parties.
"I can confirm that Billy Porter and his husband, Adam Smith, have made the sad decision to end their marriage after six years," Simon told the publication. "The decision was an amicable and mutual one and was made after much consideration. They continue to love and support each other as they embark on this next chapter," Halls added. "There will be no further comment from either party, and it would be appreciated if their privacy be respected," he added.
Adam and Billy split for 5 years before getting hitched
Billy and Adam just split after six years of marriage, but the two have had a far longer relationship. They initially met at a dinner reception for mutual friends in February 2009. Adam sat next to Billy by chance. Billy told People that he saw Adam on the street on his way to the party and made sure to get close to him inside.
That chance meeting led to a long-term romance. "We kind of were enamored with each other from the beginning," Adam explained to People. Nonetheless, the pair broke up in 2010. They had been apart for five years before reuniting in 2015, and they felt they were destined for each other at that time. Billy proposed to Adam in 2017, and only a few weeks later, the couple made it official and got married.
