LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amy Schumer had her shot! The comedian who was enjoying the success of her 2015 hit, ‘Trainwreck’ was offered the titular role of ‘Barbie’ in 2016, and she even started working on the project. However, she later bowed out while the rights were with Sony Pictures. The comedian now shared that she had watched the movie starring Margot Robbie and ‘really enjoyed’ it!

In fact, she watched Christopher Nolan’s 'Oppenheimer' too, and also joked about Emily Blunt’s character in the movie, “Really enjoyed Barbie and Oppenheimer but I think I should have played Emily Blunts role. Do better Hollywood,” she wrote in an Instagram post. Margot’s co-star America Ferrera talked about the secretive plot, "People don't have any idea what to expect [with the film], and I think that that's the right vibe. Whatever you think it is, it's not that. It's something else."

Why Amy Schumer rejected 'Barbie'?

Amy Schumer decided to let go of one of the most iconic characters when she walked out of the ‘Barbie’ project, but what really made her change her mind? The ‘Life & Beth’ star initially cited it was the taxing schedule in 2017, "Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts. The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen."

Since the rights were with Sony Pictures back then, the makers issued a statement, “We respect and support Amy’s decision. We look forward to bringing Barbie to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon.”

Apparently, the 42-year-old actress further revealed why she dropped the film, “They definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it,” she said last year. Schumer told The Hollywood Reporter, “The idea that that’s just what every woman must want, right there, I should have gone, ‘You’ve got the wrong gal.’ ”

'I think it looks awesome'

In June this year, she wished luck to Gerwig and Robbie for the movie and said, “I can’t wait to see the movie, I think it looks awesome.” She again clarified to Andy Cohen, about her earlier ouster, "I think we said it was scheduling conflicts. That’s what we said. But it really was just creative differences. But there’s like a new team behind it and it looks like it’s very feminist and cool, so I will be seeing that movie.”
