UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: On the upcoming episode of NBC's popular singing competition 'The Voice,' John Legend will face a difficult decision.

In a preview of the October 30 'Battle Rounds', two outstanding Team Legend members, Kaylee Shimizu, and Elizabeth Evans, present a jaw-dropping rendition of Olivia Rodrigo's 'Traitor', leaving the coaches amazed and the audience wanting more.

Former One Direction member Niall Horan expressed his respect for the youthful performers. "That was the best version of that song I've heard, 100 percent," he said. While Niall complimented Kaylee's brilliance, he also hinted at his personal choice by saying he's rooting for Elizabeth to win.

Gwen Stefani, another well-known coach on the program, lauded both singers, praising Elizabeth in particular for her distinctive stage presence. "You're very original and rare," she said.

Who did John Legend pick for the 'Knockouts'?

With an expression of pride in his teammates, John Legend voiced his amazement at having to pick between Elizabeth and Kaylee.

He told them, “Elizabeth, you do interesting note choices that I would never have thought of. You’re able to be a little quirky but also just flat out sing, too. And it’s very exciting and interesting to watch. And then Kaylee, as a vocalist, there’s very few people on the planet who can sing with the level of ability and the level of gift that you have."

You’re just so polished at such a young age, it’s actually stunning to watch. Both of you are ridiculous. I can’t believe I have to make this decision," he added.

As the preview ended with a cliffhanger, fan forums are of the opinion that John will save Elizabeth while letting Kaylee go.

'The Voice' Season 24 fans differ with NBC coaches

Even though 'The Voice' Season 24 coaches, seemed more impressed by Elizabeth, fans in the YouTube comment section beg to differ.

One user wrote, "Both were amazing. Elizabeth did a great job with a unique voice. However, the control and versatility of Kaylee is really phenomenal. Kaylee won the battle for me."

Another user chimed in, "I love them both!! But for this round, I'll choose Kaylee. Her vocal range, technique and control are phenomenal! With great song choice, she will definitely win this season."

One fan further commented, "The song should've been divided fairly, Kaylee had her part very limited to show her versatile voice. In my opinion that is just not fair but Kayle still did her best. I hope Kaylee can continue. TEAM KAYLEE here!"

A fan gave her opinion stating, "For me as a vocal coach I choose Kaylee and she has a unique voice, even when she chooses/picks a kind of song to be sung, she has his own style/version and the range is on fire, and the runs OMG...keep it up Kaylee..."

One fan argued, "I hope they give Kaylee more “good” parts of the song. And even if they did not, Kaylee is simply super talented. She killed that song."

Another added, "Kaylee's voice is so unique and it touches my heart. There's something about her that I can't explain. She is interesting to watch. Im very excited & looking forward to her next performance. For me, she is the winner in this battle. I really love her."

Who is Kaylee Shimizu on 'The Voice' Season 24?

Kaylee is a 17-year-old vocalist from Oahu, Hawaii, who isn't afraid to tackle huge tunes. Last December, she became popular for singing Mariah Carey's whistle notes in her version of 'Emotions.'

Kaylee auditioned for 'American Idol' last year and made it to the 'Hollywood' round. She has been singing since she was four years old, motivated by her mother's family's musical skills.

She began singing classes at the age of six and made her public debut in a local mall later that year, singing Miley Cyrus' 'When I Look At You'.

She's accomplished a lot since then, including winning a statewide singing competition at the age of 10 and being named Miss Teen Ewa Beach American Scholar in 2022.

Kaylee graduated from Hawaii Technology Academy last spring and told Hawaii News Now that she can see herself migrating to Los Angeles at some point in the future because of the options available there.

Her social media is full of covers of Adele, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, and, of course, Mariah's tunes. Kaylee has amassed a sizable social media following, with close to 13K followers and over 150,000 TikTok likes.
