Are Sydney and Xzavier still together? 'Temptation Island' Season 2 creates suspense after final bonfire
'Temptation Island' recently returned for Season 2 on Netflix. The show started with four couples who arrived in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, to work on their issues. Sydney and Mikey entered the show together, but it was the chemistry between Sydney and Xzavier that stole the spotlight. Xzavier was a tempter on the show, who swept Sydney off her feet. Their connection was instant and was fueled by Mikey's disappointing actions in the other villa.
Sydney and Mikey entered the show on the back of a year-and-a-half relationship. The couple shared that Mikey was a bit of a player when the duo met. This led to a lot of emotional insecurities for Sydney. The aesthetician felt that Mikey was not serious about their relationship and avoided "emotionally uncomfortable conversations." Mikey wanted to show Sydney that he had changed his ways and is ready for commitment. The live music event host was scared that his partner might stray in the face of temptation. However, Sydney remained confident that nothing would transpire if Mikey remained loyal. “I’m loyal, but I know my boundaries, so if something happens that breaks that trust, I won’t hesitate to move on,” she shared. “I’m a lover girl, but I’m also a very observant Libra, so if something feels off, I’m going to notice.”
During the introduction ceremony, Sydney struck a chord with Xzavier. The former was "blown away" by the instant chemistry. "When I first met Xzavier, it really felt like a friendship," she told Cosmopolitan about their first meeting. "And I didn’t look at him in terms of like...somebody I would possibly date, or anything like that." Xzavier's actions made her believe that he was a genuine guy. She shared with Netflix that Xzavier respecting her boundaries made a strong impression on her. Sydney became even more drawn to Xzavier when, in the same ceremony, Mikey began flirting with other girls and also gave her the cold shoulder. The aesthetician, true to her words, then decided to pursue her connection with Xzavier. Her resolve was further strengthened when she saw videos of Mikey flirting with other girls. In Episode 6, she and Xzavier finally shared a kiss.
Xzavier did not hold back about his feelings for Sydney throughout the season. After Sydney came back into the villa, following a breakdown over Mikey's actions, he gave her a card stating that she is “the prize." The tempter further impressed her when he dedicated a song to her during a group outing. “Being pointed out, feeling chosen, and being like, ‘Wow, he’s showing everybody in here that I'm his person,’” Sydney shared about the experience. He was in from the first moment, which made Sydney secure in a way Mikey never did.
It was soon evident that Sydney had begun losing feelings for Mikey. From the second bonfire onwards, Sydney remained unfazed by any relationships Mikey was pursuing in the other villa. Mikey, though, felt differently. In a video message to Sydney, he begged her to reconsider her stance. Sydney refused as she believed it was “too little too late.” In the last bonfire, she revealed she did not want to leave the show with Mikey, despite his requests. Instead, she asked if Xzavier would want to leave with her, and he wholeheartedly agreed. The two then expressed their love for each other, and the obvious question now is whether the duo made it in the real world. There is currently no official information about their relationship status, and the audience will possibly have to wait for them to make an announcement. The good news is that they still seem to be in each other's lives as they continue to follow each other on social media.
