'16 and Pregnant' star Sean Garinger, 20, visited ex Selena Gutierrez and daughters just weeks before his tragic death
BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA: Sean Garinger, who died at the age of 20, on February 28, Wednesday, was known for his appearance on '16 and Pregnant' with his ex-partner, Selena Gutierrez.
The young couple appeared on the MTV reality series as Gutierrez was one of five teenagers whose motherhood journeys were documented.
How did Sean Garinger die?
20-year-old Sean Garinger died in an ATV accident on February 28, Wednesday, in Boone, North Carolina.
In a conversation with The US Sun, his mother, Mary Hobbs said, "I was with him when it happened. He was just moving [the ATV] from one parking spot to the next for me, so I could back into park."
She added, "He pulled [in] front of me to park the ATV and the ground gave way from all the rain and mud," as she explained that the ATV flipped and "crushed" his skull.
Hobbs went on to reveal that she tried to get help from the neighbors but no one answered.
"By that time, I realized he wasn't alive anymore." 40-year-old Mary emotionally said, "I just laid next to him until the ambulance showed up."
Sean Garinger had two daughters with Selena Gutierrez
Sean appeared on the MTV series alongside his ex, Selena Gutierrez, 20, as they welcomed their two children, Dareli, aged three, and Esmi, aged one.
The show chronicled the challenges in Garinger and Gutierrez's relationship during her initial pregnancy, as she believed Sean had been cheating on her.
Their first daughter, Dareli Marie Gutierrez, was born on October 7, 2020, followed by the birth of their second daughter, Esmi, in June 2022, surprising many of their followers upon learning that Sean was the father once again, despite their fallout.
Sean Garinger and Selena Gutierrez separated last year
According to The US Sun, Selena and Sean parted ways last year and were involved with other individuals when Sean died.
They resided in different states, with Sean in Boone, North Carolina, residing with his mother, and Selena in Fountain, Colorado, with her mother, Michelle Gutierrez, and two daughters.
A week prior to his tragic death, Sean visited Selena's family in Colorado to spend time with his daughters.
A family insider, as reported by The US Sun, stated that Selena is currently going through a challenging time and is not in a positive state of mind following the news of Sean's death.
