UVALDE, TEXAS: Joe Garcia, husband of Irma Garcia, passed away of a heart attack as a consequence of the Robb Elementary School mass shooting. The grief-stricken husband of the fourth-grade teacher, who was killed in the Texas school massacre, died just two days after the mass shooting, the family said on Thursday, May 26. The two had been married for 24 years and left four children behind.

Family members told FOX 26 that Joe Garcia, the husband of Irma Garcia, died on Thursday, May 26, just two days after the tragedy at Robb Elementary School because of grief. Irma Garcia was among the victims of the mass shooting who was killed by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos. The deadly massacre has left the families of the victims miserable and distressed. John Martinez, Irma Garcia's nephew shared multiple tweets announcing his uncle Joe Garcia's death. “EXTREMELY heartbreaking and come with deep sorrow to say that my Tia Irma’s husband Joe Garcia has passed away due to grief,” the nephew said.

“I truly am at a loss for words for how we are all feeling, PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY, God have mercy on us, this isn’t easy,” he said. “The pain doesn’t stop,” he added, minutes later.



 

Irma Garcia was the class teacher of fourth grade at the Robb Elementary School and during the deadly shooting, she tried to save the children from getting shot by covering them. However, she died in an attempt of saving the children from the mass shooting. "My tia did not make it, she sacrificed herself protecting the kids in her classroom, i beg of you to keep my family including all of her family in y’all’s prayers, IRMA GARCIA IS HER NAME and she died a HERO. she was loved by many and will truly be missed," the nephew wrote.



 

"She passed away with children in her arms trying to protect them, those weren’t just her students they were her kids as well, she was the teacher of the year, and was loved by so many, she’s gone but the world will never forget her name", he further added.



 

Matthew Seedorff, a reporter at FOX26 Houston, declared the death of Joe Garcia. He wrote, "BREAKING: Family members tell me Joe Garcia, the husband of Uvalde teacher Irma Garcia, just died of a heart attack. The couple had been married 24 years and has 4 children. Irma was shot and killed Tuesday trying to protect her 4th grade class. #breaking #Uvalde".



 

The motive behind the mass shooting is still unknown and the case is being invested. However, the deadly massacre has created outrage among the people and the families of the victims. The massacre has aroused a heated debate on gun reforms, carelessness of law enforcement, and poor security.
