Who is Brett Kavanaugh's wife? Vaxxed SC Justice has Covid, but family tests negative
Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has tested positive for Covid-19, the court said on Friday, October 1, just three days before its next term is set to begin. Kavanaugh, 56, reportedly has no symptoms as of now. He has been fully vaccinated against the virus since January.
On Wednesday, September 29, Kavanaugh participated in a three-mile charity road race in Washington. The 39th annual ACLI Capital Challenge, sponsored by the American Council of Life Insurers, drew high-profile lawmakers. Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, Republican Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, and Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn were all seen at the race. Republican Rep Mike Gallagher won the race for the House men's division. The race raises money for financial literacy programs for students in after-school care.

The court’s statement said, “On Thursday, per the Court’s regular testing protocols, Justice Kavanaugh had a routine Covid test ahead of Justice Barrett’s investiture on Friday. On Thursday evening, Justice Kavanaugh was informed that he had tested positive for Covid-19. He has no symptoms and has been fully vaccinated since January.”
“Per current Court testing protocols,” the statement added, “all of the Justices were tested Monday morning prior to conference, and all tested negative, including Justice Kavanaugh. Justice Kavanaugh’s wife and daughters are also fully vaccinated, and they tested negative on Thursday. As a precaution, Justice and Mrs. Kavanaugh will not attend Justice [Amy Coney] Barrett’s investiture this morning.” Justice Barrett, 49, contracted the virus last summer. She recovered after mild symptoms.
Who is Brett Kavanaugh’s wife?
The Supreme Court justice is married to American public official and former political aide Ashley Estes Kavanaugh. When Kavanaugh and President George Bush’s former personal secretary got married in 2004, the President and the First Lady attended the ceremony at Christ Church in Georgetown.
Ashley Estes is a 1993 graduate of Cooper High School. She was a member of the Student Council at Cooper for three years and played golf for three years, and some volleyball. She was a member of the YWCA clubs for girls and in the National Honor Society. Estes went on after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997 to work for with then-Governor George Bush, who took her to Washington, D.C., after being elected president in 2000 to be his personal secretary. After serving as former President Bush's secretary and as a White House assistant until 2005, she was director of special projects for the George W Bush presidential foundation from 2005 to 2009 and media relations coordinator for the George W Bush Presidential Center from 2009 to 2010.
In July 2018, after former president Donald Trump nominated him to the Supreme Court, in his first public speech, Kavanaugh said, "My wife Ashley is West Texan, a graduate of Abilene Cooper public high school and the University of Texas. She is now the town manager of our community. We met in 2001 when we both worked in the White House. Our first date was on September 10, 2001. The next morning I was a few steps behind her as the Secret Service shouted out all of us to sprint out the front gates of the White House because there was an inbound plane.”
"In the difficult weeks that followed, Ashley was a source of strength for President Bush, and for everyone in this building,” he said. “Through bad days and so many better days since then, she has been a great wife and inspiring mom. I thank God every day for my family."
