SPARTANBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA: Trey Gowdy has been slammed for suggesting Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as potential presidential candidates for 2024 after they won in the midterm elections. After the results were out, Gowdy said on Fox News’ ‘Sunday Night in America’ that “the thing about living in a democracy is there is always another election, a chance to learn and correct and grow and refine.”

“Based on the victory speeches from governor Ron DeSantis and Senator Tim Scott, perhaps, the next election cycle has already begun,” he added. DeSantis reportedly said in his speech, “I am proud of our achievements in this state. I am honored by your support and I look forward to the road ahead. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race in this first term, and I have kept the faith. We’ve accomplished more than anybody thought possible four years ago. But we’ve got so much more to do and I have only begun to fight.”

Scott had also apparently hinted towards his presidential ambitions when he said, “My grandfather voted for the first man of color to be reelected as president of the United States. I wish he had lived long enough … to see perhaps another man of color elected president of the United States. But this time, let it be a Republican and not just a Democrat.”

Gowdy’s suggestion did not go down well with many online as a user tweeted, “God, I thought we’d heard the end of that kookie guy.” A second user wrote, “Trey Gowdy helped push the ‘Russian collusion’ BS & he also supported indicting General Flynn. Now he’s all in for Ron DeSantis 2024.” The third one said, “Used to like this guy but I'm done with him.” “Never in a million years. I'm not voting for the guys who've been on Fox News a zillion times,” a fourth one asserted.

A person stated, “What a sad, disappointment he turned out to be.” “It's so weird... we haven't finished 2022 yet. It's like the kids fighting over who gets the Thanksgiving wishbone... weeks before Thanksgiving. There are a LOT of servants that owe the People an apology for wasting our time/resources,” another person shared.

“Another faker who put on shows when he was in congress. He never pushed for anyone to be prosecuted. He did it all for a fox show. Performance artist,” a tweet slamming Gowdy read. “Another nobody speaking couldn’t get anything done in congress so he left,” a sarcastic comment added.

Amid all this criticism, interest has grown about Gowdy's personal life.

Who is Trey Gowdy's wife?

Gowdy reportedly married his wife, Terri, in 1989. She became Miss South Carolina's second runner up before eventually becoming the winner of Miss Spartanburg. She now reportedly works as a teacher and is not active on social media.

Gowdy and Terri share two children together – Abigail and Watson. As per reports, Watson graduated from Clemson University before going to Washington School of law. Abigail is a student at South Carolina University.
