The reason Thomas Rhett can 'Die a Happy Man' as his song goes is largely due to his wife Lauren Akins, who he has known practically his whole life and yes, she also inspired his hit song. They were even in first grade together, though they weren't aware of it at the time. It was not too long after, in the sixth grade, however, that they got to know each other and have been a part of each other's lives ever since.

Theirs may seem to be a storybook romance, but wife Lauren has made it clear that marriage rarely ever is all sunshine and rainbows. In fact, she has even written a successful book on her marriage with Rhett called 'Live in Love', in which she outlines advice for other couples to follow to keep their marriages strong.

Lauren and Thomas married at the age of 22, but unlike many other couples who marry young, they have weathered the challenges of marriage and raising a family. Lauren who graduated with a degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee has made good use of her nursing training, with her humanitarian work all over the world, particularly in Hawaii and Uganda. She works for 147 Million Orphans, an organization that provides basic needs to less privileged children. Lauren and Rhett who initially struggled with conceiving adopted a little girl Willa from Uganda who won over Lauren at a children's home, during her work with147 Million Orphans.

Lauren says in an interview to People about her decision, "She was a total orphan and didn’t have any biological relatives, no one. Her life was going to be at the children’s home unless someone else tried to give her a home. So I thought, 'We need to find her a home.' I thought we’d be the helpers—and then Thomas Rhett said, 'We’ll do it!'"

During the year-long process to find Willa a home, Lauren became pregnant unexpectedly and then came the couple's next child, little Ada James. Talk about several life changes in a year! But clearly, Thomas and Lauren aren't done expanding the family as Lauren gave birth to their youngest Lennon Love in February 2020.

Don't expect the baby brigade to stop anytime soon though. In an interview to Access Online, Thomas said, "Lauren wants to have five kids before she turns 34. That is her plan. So you can probably expect three new babies in the next five years."

While his personal life seems to certainly be full, so is his professional life. Thomas is up for four trophies at this year's ACM Awards, including male artist of the year and the much-coveted entertainer of the year honors.
