LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: DC is awaiting the worldwide release of its most anticipated project to date. It has the hype, the characters, and the element of a bubbling multiverse that is selling like hotcakes everywhere. 'The Flash' stars Ezra Miller, who is also joined in his quest to save the world by Michael Keaton's Batman, Ben Affleck's Batman, and Sasha Calle's Supergirl. After 'Justice League' and 'The Suicide Squad,' this is the biggest attempt by DC to bring all the big stars under one hat.

General Zod (Michael Shannon) will return to the DC franchise after his escapades in 'Man of Steel.' Zoe is expected to take on the role of the true villain in the film. However, there is speculation about another villain making his way into the world of Barry Allen. And the man who started this speculation is director Andy Muschietti. But given the threat General Zoe brings, is another villain necessary to defeat Flash?

Who is the secret villain in 'The Flash?

The production of the film has long been a topic of debate. Andy and the director duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were asked to write and direct the film. However, Andy prevailed and later shared a sketch on Instagram that may have started all the speculation about another villain. Upon closer inspection, the sketch appears to be a complete recreation of Eobard Thawne aka the Reverse Flash.

Reverse Flash was born from the idea that "there is an equal and opposite reaction" to everything." For every step Flash takes toward the future, someone from the future races back through time to stop him. Thus, the Reverse Flash was born. The multiverse is another theme explored in 'The Flash', and Reverse Flash may appear in it. He is simply a copy of Flash and vows to destroy everything he holds dear. But is there room for Reverse Flash in the movie?

Can ‘The Flash’ handle another villain?

So far, General Zod and his army are the confirmed villain of 'The Flash' Barry Allen is already trapped in an alternate reality without metahumans, and to return to his universe, he must end the threat of General Zod. That's already a massive and complicated timeline that will require a full-length movie to unravel. Adding the complexity of the Reverse Flash could take attention away from the battle between Zod and Flash.

Reverse Flash is a pivotal villain who needs his own movie. With 'The Flash' opening a new DC universe, James Gunn could soon be tackling this particular threat to Barry Allen.
