LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘GMA3’ star Dr Jennifer Ashton enjoys an eventful life outside work. The chief medical correspondent for ABC News is also an OB-GYN and spends her time supporting various causes and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) in the country. One such NPO belongs to her current husband, Tom Werner, the chairman of Liverpool Football Club and Boston Red Sox.

The name of this NPO is Home Base which provides help to army veterans who have fought for the US. At one of the recent events of Homebase, Ashton posted a video of fellow journalist Stephanie Ramos singing a spirited song to a sold-out crowd in Fenway Park In Boston, Massachusetts. It was an annual run event held by Home Base to raise money for the Veteran's life-saving care facilities. Stephanie stepped onto the field and broke into a melodious performance as the crowd cheered her on.

Who is Stephanie Ramos?

Stephanie Ramos is an ABC News correspondent who started her career as an Assignment Editor at WIS-TV in South Carolina. Before joining ABC News, Ramos anchored and reported for KMBC-TV. Her work was particularly notable for her coverage of immigrant children caught crossing into the US from Mexico. Ramos also worked as a TV News Reporter/Anchor at WIBW-TV from 2007-2012 in Kansas and as a multi-platform reporter for ABC in Washington DC.

But the biggest badge in Ramos’ professional career comes from the time that she served in the army. In 2008, Ramos served as the First Lieutenant in Iraq and was awarded multiple medals for her exceptional service including the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal.

At ABC News, Ramos covers critical military issues and extensively covered the murder of Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old US soldier who went missing in April 2020 and was later found to have been killed by fellow solider, Aaron David Robinson, inside an armory at Fort Hood, Texas. Ramos also doesn’t miss any chance to support the cause of the veterans in the country. Her performance at the Home Base event in Boston was a testament to all her efforts to better the lives of veterans in the country, given that she has seen war up close.

What does the Home Base founded by the Boston Red Sox Foundation do?

Home Base is a non-profit, completely dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families, and Families of the Fallen through world-class, direct clinical care, wellness, education, and research — all at no cost to them, regardless of era of service, discharge status or geographical location. Ashton’s current spouse is the founding member of this cause through the Boston Red Sox Foundation.
