Who is Ryan? Elliot Page reveals he had 'discreet but adventurous sex' with closeted actress amid Kate Mara and Olivia Thirlby claims
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the wake of the release of the tell-all memoir 'Pageboy,' actor Elliot Page, 36, is leaving no stone unturned as he shares details about his romantic history. In addition to openly discussing his passionate encounters with Kate Mara from 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' and Olivia Thirlby from the film 'Juno,' Page has now disclosed a previously hidden two-year relationship with a closeted female co-star.
Page, who came out as transgender in 2020, refers to his former co-star as 'Ryan' and explains that they met on a film set a decade ago, where they fell "desperately in love." The 36-year-old reveals that 'Ryan' was even "more closeted than him" but described their intimacy as "discreet but adventurous sex" engaging in passionate encounters in various locations such as secluded spots below the Pacific Coast Highway, hidden among boulders in Joshua Tree National Park, and even aboard an airplane.
Who is Elliot Page's former flame Ryan?
Page reminisces about their first encounter at a coffee shop when he was 26, where he found himself enthralled by the unnamed actress's beauty. "She was radiant – her dress, her smile, how she pushed her hair from her face … We discussed books, activism, our collective consciousness, and the deep intelligence of nature," he writes. This innocent encounter quickly escalated into passionate moments as Page vividly recounts their exhilarating sexual adventures.
The couple traveled together, and Page fondly remembers a heartfelt love letter Ryan wrote to him in the back sleeve of a book while they were waiting for a flight in the Air Canada lounge. "She began to write in the back sleeve, an outpouring of love, one of the most beautiful letters I have ever received," he remembers fondly.
Ryan insisted on keeping their relationship hidden from her parents, leading them to resort to extreme measures. "Her parents did not know. I was the friend that came for Christmas … We never touched outside, we barely went to dinner," wrote the Hard Candy star, reported Page Six.
'It unreservedly gutted me!'
Page even mentions that in their phone, the woman's name was saved as "Ryan." However, due to the constant "lying, the anxiety, the disgust" associated with hiding their relationship, it eventually became unsustainable, and Ryan broke up with Page. Page speculates that Ryan "couldn't handle the shame" of being seen as a "queer" person. Later, Page bumped into Ryan at a party, where he witnessed her arriving with a male date, leaving him feeling "shattered."
To escape the heart-wrenching situation, Page feigns food poisoning and finds solace when Ryan's date offers them a coconut water. "He had no idea about our history of course," Page clarifies. While acknowledging the kind gesture, Page confesses that, at that moment, all he wanted was to grab the coconut water and throw it away. Witnessing their former lover move on was difficult enough, but it was the public display of affection that truly devastated them, "[Ryan touching him] in the way she never could with me … it unreservedly gutted me."
The memoir, released on June 6, offers readers a candid and brutally honest look into Page's career and personal life. In addition to the revelation of his secret relationship, Page also opened up about his intimate experiences with Kate and Olivia. He disclosed that he had a sexual relationship with Thirlby while filming Juno, and he shared his affection for Mara during the production of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.'
