'The Masked Singer' always saves the best and the most shocking performances for the end of the episodes and Season 5's premiere night was no different. The porcupine looked like he had abs of steel as he walked onto the stage in all his prickly glory. For those who have still not seen the porcupine costume, it blends the appearance of a porcupine and a robot. The masked contestant even changed his name before delivering his performance. He corrected everyone calling him Porcupine and told them he's the "Robopine".

The Robopine sang 'Never Too Much' by Luther Vandross and hearing his buttery smooth vocals coming out of that somewhat terrifying costume is not what the judges were expecting. To top that, he also added that he was a sexagenarian and was not just a father but a grandfather as well, leaving the judges confused and in disbelief.

Continue reading below to know more about what happened during the performance and which celebrity could be under the Robopine mask.

Who is Robopine on 'The Masked Singer'?

Robopine in his first clue package video that aired before he went on stage was heard telling someone to not be terrified of his appearance. "Where I come from, I was forced to grow thick quills and I was left to fend for myself with nothing but dreams," he said.

He also added that he used to call 4-1-1 till he made a connection with people and his search ended when "a certain angel said hello." Robopine further added that he went on a "mission to get on Hollywood's radar."

The Cluedle Doo's clue about Robopine read that he was skilled at not becoming roadkill. The visual clues in the package included a lock with a key inside it, a spaceship, DNA strands, a soda can, and a statue of George Washington.

In a conversation with Niecy Nash after his performance, he said, "Well my kids and my grandkids told me I was supposed to hang it up a long time ago. 60 years old and I really appreciate the love. Means a lot."

Who do the judges think the Robopine on 'The Masked Singer' is?

Judging by the smoothness of his voice and the fact that he said he was in his 60s, Ken Jeong guessed it could be Nicole Richie's adoptive father Lionel Richie. Jamie Foxx was Nicole Scherzinger's guess even though the actor isn't 60. The Hawaiin beauty took her chances because she believed that the Robopine was just fibbing about his age and was much younger. Robin Thicke too shared the same sentiments and went with Ginuwine as his guess.

Robopine was the tallest contestant in Group A and in the past whenever a tall person has made it onto the stage, the judges have always guessed Montell Jordan's name as their guess. Robopine's height, as well as his voice kind of matches with 52-year-old Jordan, who had become a worship leader in 2010 but returned to his musical roots in 2019 on 'American Idol'. There are chances that he is participating to attempt another comeback.

The clue package also supports Robin Thicke's guess about the Robopine being Ginuwine. He was born in Washington D.C and that explains the George Washington statue in the package. Also, Ginuwine is a father as well as a grandfather and he recently shared a photo of his granddaughter in May 2020. Who do you think the celebrity under the Robopine mask is?
