LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Penn Badgley recently talked about his previous relationships with Blake Lively and took viewers down memory lane by recalling his breakthrough performance as Dan Humphrey in ‘Gossip Girl’. At the time, Badgley and Lively dated for over three years before calling it quits in 2010. However, according to Badgley, the spotlight lifestyle wasn't always dazzling.
Badgley remembered the six seasons of the show as ‘fun and fast-paced’ but also as having a "dark undercurrent that would bottom out in" his "later 20s." During the 'Gossip Girl_ filming, he discussed his on- and off-screen connection with Lively and revealed how she saved him from issues with alcohol after he fell into despair in his 20s. Badgley later found happiness and is currently happily married to his wife Domino Kirke. The pair also has two sons, James, 2, and Cassius, 14.

According to Popsugar, Badgley is married to Kirke, a singer, and actress who also works as a doula. Along with being a musician and reiki practitioner, she previously collaborated with Mark Ronson and released the song 'Beyond Waves' in 2017. In addition, Kirke is the co-founder of Carriage House Birth, a company that assists pregnant mothers. In February 2017, Badgley and Kirke were wed in a Brooklyn courthouse ceremony and they hosted small reception at Maison-May.
However, they also held a grand celebration at Domino's mother's house in Waccabuc, New York, the same year. In an earlier episode of his podcast, Badgley discussed his zero intimate scene rule for season four of 'You' saying that "fidelity in every relationship, and especially my marriage, is important to me." The actor later clarified his position in an interview with Variety and claimed that, despite wanting to decline the role of Joe Goldberg in 'You' in order to avoid any love scenes, his wife had "encouraged" him to take on the role of the charming serial killer. He explained, "I wasn't going to listen to anyone more than her."

About the ways Lively supported her, he specifically mentioned that he had never struggled with substance usage when he was with her. He said, “Blake didn't drink, and I think our relationship in some ways saved me from forcing myself to go down that road."
“Like anybody who experiences some degree of fame and wealth," he stated, "I was presented with the universal truth that not only does it not make your life better or easier, it actually can greatly complicate things, and make you quite unhappy. I was never anything that I would define as suicidal at all, but I was certainly in despair,” he remarked.
